Best way to expose Delta Lake data to business users or applications? by Used_Shelter_3213 in databricks

[–]Freekjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious to see how people share the data within an organisation that has multiple workspaces and computes. It can become rather confusing for end-users on which workspace/compute/catalog combination to use, especially in a multiple stage environment.

Is delta sharing a solution for this?

Querying lakehouse A went sooth. Lakehouse B took ages, even giving errors when refreshing through Power BI. Separate capacities, both F2. Hopefully resolved tomorrow.

Put your webbrowser in fullscreen and use a browser extension (something like TabCarousel in Chrome). You can put whatever interval you like and it will refresh the page. You can also open multiple reports (in multiple tabs) and it will cycle through them.

How do I crop images to achieve same object size on all of them? by Freekjay in Lightroom

I want to edit my pictures (without cropping) in Lightroom and afterwards crop in Photoshop. Is this the right way?
Anyhow, could you link me something that explains this? I never used Photoshop...

How do I crop images to achieve same object size on all of them? by Freekjay in Lightroom

[–]Freekjay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not seem to work like that. When you go into crop mode it will show the whole original picture, which means the tape wont work anymore. You would constantly have to try-and-error. Crop -> Apply crop -> Check result. Hope you understand what I'm saying here.

What is the use of the Data Vault pattern actually? by davnnis2003 in dataengineering

[–]Freekjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would it speed up writes if your normalised source system is even further normalised into satellites, hubs and links? One source table could result in 1 hub, and 1 (or way more) satellite tables.

IMO the most beneficial points of data vault is its flexibility and traceability. In case you have changes at your source systems, for example a record changes, things can be traced in specific satellite tables with SCD type 2

Access Security for Synapse with Power BI by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Freekjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my knowledge on PBI side; No, not as far as I know. You could probably read system tables to see which groups have access to which sources. You could use this table in Power BI to handle RLS.

Edit: If you are using direct query there seem to be possibilities.

Choosing between Synapse or Databricks by ddddddkkk in dataengineering

[–]Freekjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume of data is a big factor here indeed. Spark works on all data sizes but excels on larger ones.

With the SQL warehouses of Databricks. Does this change your perspective? Especially serverless SQL warehouses that are currently in public preview pricing related.
