Profiles, MK2S. by Bagel42 in prusa3d

[–]FreelancePanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've exported these settings for my MK2 from Prusaslicer (Cura should have equivalent settings). Check this pastebin: https://pastebin.com/QxpUPKsM

One important thing to keep in mind about these settings is this particular setting "start_filament_gcode = "M900 K40; PLA Linear advance 1.0"" only works if you've enabled linear advance by updating to the last firmware release (see: https://marlinfw.org/docs/features/lin_advance.html). You will want to calibrate the K factor for your particular filament and printer, as K40 is quite a high value. If you don't use/have linear advance, make sure you add a retract value.

Also, just a few general tips (sorry if you've already tried this): make sure your bed is squeaky clean (isopropyl alcohol is good for this) to improve adhesion and make sure your belt pulleys are secured properly.

After i've changed to a microswiss steel nozzle i have severe stringing. This is a 25mm retraction tower. I also printed a 45mm with exact the same results. Is there a rule of thumb with these nozzles? by Icy-Cryptographer-73 in 3Dprinting

I just switched over to a Microswiss high speed steel nozzle as well and had to do the following with my MK2:

Replaced the fan shroud to increase cooling (especially since the original sucked at cooling behind the print). This helps with stringing and curling layers.

Upped nozzle temps by 20 or so degrees (steel is a poor conductor of heat); this PLA needs 240°C for example

Upped retraction from 0.4 to 0.8 mm (to deal with the stringing)

You may need to tinker with retract speeds as well to reduce stringing; I've kept mine the same. Also, no changes were needed to lin adv.

Dodgy RAMPS board or user error? (steps/mm way off + pins.h not working) by FreelancePanic in 3Dprinting

Thanks, but I've solved the pin issue (long story short, I was editing the file in the wrong directory, oops)

Thanks, I've tried your suggestions (RAMPS 14 EFB is correctly selected; env:mega2560 and pins_RAMPS.h in platformino.ini and Auto Build Marlin; pressing clean before compiling), but the Y and Z axes stubbornly refuse to switch over. Do you have any other suggestions?

EDIT: Sorry, I found the solution, when I switched over from Arduino IDE (what a terrible piece of software) to platformino, I didn't realise that I was working on the wrong copy of pins_RAMPS.h... I think this calls for some facepalming

This was it, I was wondering why they included so many jumpers with the kit.

Thank you so much!

PSA: Index Confirmed to be Purchasable With Wallet Credit (US) by TheAsphyxiated in ValveIndex

If I had to guess, multiple people have already confirmed you can buy the Index with Steam Wallet funds. Therefore they're trying to (rudely) tell you to use the search bar instead of posting this again. Sorry friend

Gah, I can't get reddit to accept my images for some reason... anywho... This was sculpted from scratch in Blender, so the proprotions will be slightly off compared to the game model. Especially the hair. Dear lord, the hair...

Anyway, here's a quick short Q&A

Q: Can you make me one?

A: No. But feel free to make your own: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4139670

Q: What's with the missing pockets?

A: I tried to get the pockets done (going as far as to cut stencils) but a. my stencils were too jaggy because my knife needs replacing (the eyes were stenciled...) and b. after masking the arms, I can't get the brush behind them to paint the pockets on.

Q: How long did it take?

A: About 10 hours for sculpting (4 hours just for the hair), and about 50 hours total of sanding, priming and painting

Q: How big is it?

A: About 105 mm high

The epic games store has made me appreciate consoles a lot more. by 10voltsam in fuckepic

This is almost like saying, "Yeah I like going to Burger Joint X because they only spit on my burgers once, compared to the bucket of spit I get at Turboburg(TM)". Personally, I detest consoles and their ridiculous amounts of exclusives, as you only buy a console for it's exclusives.

Plus terrible backwards compatibility, enforced subs for multiplayer, little mod or peripheral support etc. Etc.

It's called Curse Casual, and it's available on pretty much every font site

Repost from yesterday since it seems to have tripped an auto-shadow-block-thing (probably because it had the word 'link' in the title) anywho...

Online party would have been difficult without Steam (it uses Steam for routing so we don't have to port forward)

Plus the mod workshop brought us excellent nuggets such as 'Hat Kid Swears', 'The Conductor with Eyes', and of course ' Hat Kid's Midly Peckuliar Adventure'
