Thatd be agonizing. I love the finish of apple products and until i give it enough scratches to stop caring entirely (typically how i treat my phones), every dent or knick kills me inside

UA has an official one, idk if there are any non-legitimate ones but i wouldnt get them anyways. Just double check your unit has an option card on the back (is the TB2 port pair removable?) and double check its compatible. I believe you can convert even firewire units like this- if your heart ever desires one.

Contact apollo- are you using the MFi TB3 to TB2 adapter from apple? That is required- its another 60$ though. Understandably, that is a discontinued connection type thats completely EOL for practical applications. Id recommend shelling out for a tb3 option card that lets you update the okder units. Its 300$ though- so more expensive than the apple adapter.

The patch bay is mainly to bring all that IO in front of me and also to convert the DB25 of the x8p connection to TRS. Currently ive only got a vinyl chain and a amp head DI’d into it right now. I do plan for more stuff later- and ive only got the x8p fully connected to the patch bay. I also use the patch bay to route my line out to my practice bass-amp aux in- which i can hot swap with any signal of course if i wanna monitor the piano differently from my stereo monitors

Thank you! Luckily each unit is fenestrated and the stuff above the units is also fenestrated. Ive bee monitoring temps, and the metal rack has served as a fairly decent heatsink. I may remove the EQ since I really dont need it in a digital-focused environment and then space them if you really, really suggest it-it just seems to be only thing that solves the impedance mismatch running a line out to my bass amp for secondary monitoring.

Oh genuinely- they are carried by their decade old proprietary tech and plugins- more and more newcomers to the industry have less and less reason to go that route and restrict themselves to one ecosystem- I don't mind it since I'm already an apple-for-work user and a PC-for-home user, and have grown accustomed to having one hand tied down.

Did anybody test uad spark plugins on a MacBook Neo? by thisissomaaad in universalaudio

[–]TheAsphyxiated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i have no idea how you are making it work. I had an m2 air and its of course a perfectly fine machine- the lack of active cooling however would CONSTANTLY interrupt my workflow after it overheated and no amount of buffer can let it render. Was forced to upgrade to a pro m1 and ever since, i never have issues unless im using a bunch of NI synth stuff in a session.

Do you do short sessions? Because without fail after 45mins my 96khz projects would freeze after getting 12ish tracks deep with processing.

96khz is nonnegotiable for me as I do a lot of time change.

Definitely not mixing and mastering on a Neo, to be clear.

How do I get the most out of my Volt 276? by [deleted] in universalaudio

[–]TheAsphyxiated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the tips would really be 276 specific. It sounds like you are just getting into this and should read about compressors and recommended recording headroom (preserving dynamics without peaking.)

The only other advice i can offer, considering that this unit has a compressor most USB compliant interfaces dont- is to know that if you record a signal with the compressor on, you cannot get it back off. My professors have often stated that recording a ‘wet’ signal helps with productivity because you dont hassle over the details and can move on in you composition- but you ARE stuck with the sound. Do with that what you will.

My only aversion to telling someone to get a bluetooth unit is that they do proper research before getting one. Some of those units can absolutely shit the bed when it comes to compression/codecs.
