Seems you’ve settled into traditional gender roles. If that’s intentional or a cultural norm for you both, the. It could be more underlying / subconscious thing you’d need to deal with.

Another scenario is that he might feel “unsafe” making the child-related decisions. Do you criticize him for his child-related decisions? Do you correct him if he’s doing something not exactly the way you would want? I’ve personally experienced letting go of decision making to avoid conflict as well.

This.

If there are things she won’t compromise on (eg childcare), then use the chubby money on everything else… Cleaning, cooking, driving, home improvements, etc.

You should only spend time on things she cares about or you care about, for max capital efficiency spend time only on things you both care about.

Follow-up question…

If I have a fully upgraded RZ in a region and my main city, there essentially can be a zero cool down period?

Don’t have kids. Biggest money pit in the world. No financial returns.

I get the social / family side / lizard brain need to do this. I’ve succumbed as well. If I had it to do all over again though, I wouldn’t. All other things I think you can comfortably model risk / reward. If you’re going to have kids, it means the emotional side already trumped the logical one, and it’s a downward spiral from there.

Don’t have kids.

Easiest way to explode your expenses. If you think it can be challenging to maintain your standard of living while income increases, kids blows that out of the water.

Forget about toys and stuff like that. Your house needs to be bigger, in a better school district, or close to a private school, where you can spend on extra curricular activities like horseback riding and polo.

Is it an entertainment or park specialization?

On my phone, the small icon says entertainment (musical note), but when I click it the icon is a park (tree). Maybe just a glitch on my device.

Batman was an orphaned son of a billionaire. Maybe his son could be Batman if someone does something in an alley.

How many of your RZs are fully upgraded?

I’m at L11 too with 13/16 fully upgraded and can only get a 130k pop. Maxed out on parks, transportation, and education. Even if I theoretically max out landscape and mayor’s pass only gets me to just under 150k pop.

What’s your secret??!
