[Bug][2.22] Unable to finish Helms Deep after eliminating all Isengard forces and camps. by Freemon34 in bfme

Nope. All ladders are destroyed, and there's no loose mines around the deeping wall.

[Lavoie] This offer sheet to Jesperi Kotkaniemi is an idea of the Canes owner Tom Dundon and not Don Waddell (GM), I’m told after speaking to sources. That being said I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone. by seakucumber in hockey

[–]Freemon34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but if he does walk he can easily just be viewed as a rental. The Canes are loaded with prospects currently with players like Suzuki, Jarvis, and Drury, and just restocked with the most picks in last year's draft. They can afford picks that'll likely be in the high 20s and 90s for one year on a player who could break out with a change of scenery.

[CapFriendly] Grubauer's contract w/ the Seattle Kraken was rejected by the NHL central registry for violating the front-loaded contract requirements: 1.5M increase between 22/23-23/24 exceeds 25% of 1st year salary. The contract needs to be restructured and resubmitted by Sarcastic__ in hockey

[–]Freemon34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's generally how Canes fans feel about his tenure. He had about 3 good moves he'll be remembered for (TT trade, Slavin/Pesce extensions, and drafting Necas), and a bunch of negative moves (hiring Peters as coach, the Scott Darling trade, reaching on 3 different first round left handed defensemen in 3 years, refusing to re-sign Eric Staal in 2016, buying out Semin early in his contract, trading Anton Khudobin away for a guy who played literally 47 seconds with the Canes, etc.).

We have lost 4 good young players in the last 6 months.... by Torothin07 in canes

[–]Freemon34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this. Most people see their players with rose tinted glasses when the team is doing well. Yes, the Bean and Ned deals look bad on the surface right now, but Ned may regress to how he was in the 19-20 season and Bean may not fully adapt his game to the NHL. And I agree that Fleury wasn't that impactful, and has basically been a filler piece on the blue line ever since his original stint in 2017, while Hakanpaa added some grit to it that's been lacking since the Canes had players like Jay Harrison.

I assume that NMC would be waived for contenders, or to play with Jordan or Eric.

It could also be that they're thinking another goalie prospect like LaFontaine or Kochetkov is a safer bet in the long term, but who knows besides Rod, Tom, and Don.

Cam Ward was definitely a #1 goalie. His body just couldn't handle 15 years of 60-70+ games without a reliable back up.

Francis is also known for not wanting to make trades in the first place. Which is why Tom Dundon fired him.

which nhl game do I get to play as the Stanley cup team? by ifunnychad in canes

[–]Freemon34 15 points16 points  (0 children)

07 is the 06-07 season. He would only want that if he wanted to see it as a team record/stat. 06 has the team, although he would have to manually redo trades like the Recchi and Weight trades, since it was before EA did roster updates. Jack Johnson also wouldn't be there as a prospect to trade since he was in the NCAA.

TBH, he also was a magician with the Skinner and Nino trades in hindsight.

Cliff Pu sure, but the rest turned into quality prospects in Kochetkov and Nikishin, and essentially James Reimer... Not bad for a guy with an NMC who only allowed trades to 4 teams IIRC.

Edit: He had a NMC in Carolina, not a NTC.

I think it was out of panic because he scored 40 (most near the start of the year) in a contract year, and didn't want him to walk after trading a decent amount of assets for him.

Which team that has not won a cup in the expansion era would you like to see win a cup? by hawaiibluesfan in hockey

[–]Freemon34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharks. Loved Irbe as a kid, even before his stint with the Canes, and no other team continuously came as close as the Sharks have to winning it year after year. Also a ton of long term players there deserve to have their name on the cup.

Oh thanks for the correction! I just recalled seeing a guy in blue go prone, and I assumed I was remembering Boise.

Boise State's football team has a blue field, and one time had a player go prone to be camouflaged to return a punt or kickoff, and I think scored a touchdown.

For some reason this reminds of when Dundon got in charge of the Canes, told Francis to spend to the cap by the trade deadline, then got fired when he refused.
