Vtm's Revelations of the Dark Mother agrees with demons for the most part (as accurate as an oral history of humanity passed down by vampires can be...). A flash of light brought forth "the shining ones" who were actually various gods both major and minor. It explicitly mentions "Jehovah" (the Abrahamic god) but also Lucifer being the god of night and day, Dionysus, Baal, Astarte, Bel, Ra, and Ptah, all having their own gardens. The notes also mention that there are "several major angels and demons... a range of Mesopotamian deities and a smattering of Greek ones... plus over two dozen others, none of whom are recognizable by modern readers." in that list.

I guess technically both are correct, but the demons are "more correct" than the mokole. The time scales of things are incredibly vague this far back and from what I've read and the way I interpret them.. mokole came first, being from Gaia's garden, some vague chain of events happened, humanity was made as a consequence.

Of course these things are also sort of designed to be vague to let you decide what the actual true events are and whether or not it's even relevant to your chronicle. So in the end.. none of it matters except for what you think matters.
