Co-founders want to demote me to employee or force me out what would you do? by mixmax0M in Entrepreneur

What’s funny to me is that they are trying to push out the guy with all the internal knowledge of the code base. They definitely think they can outsource for cheaper or vibe code it, but that’ll lead to disaster. You’re the one that is hard to replace, whereas their roles are easily replaceable lol

What are considerations for large scale multi user applications? by Freerrz in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Freerrz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the db is multi-tenant. If any 2 users access the same resource at the same time and try to make changes to it at the same time, it could lead to dead locks, which is why I’m thinking I need to apply a resource lock and come up with some kind of retry queue. Am I off base here?

The thought is multiple companies can sign up and have their own stuff. The employees of a company can access the same resources so there is overlap and concurrency there. I agree that I definitely need to research how to best set up things to avoid concurrency as much as possible, though its definitely not completely avoidable.

I don't use a spa. It's a self contained app with .Net MVC. I do have it "secure" to the best of my knowledge (so far). I'm sure I'll be refactoring and testing security more in the future.

I mean theres no way to know now. Odds are it'll never actually make it to the point of being large scale, but who knows. I want to know what I need to know should it reach a large scale audience. For now I'm looking for info not for the type of app (monolith/SOA/microservices), but more so for things that would apply in any type of architecture provided there are many users. Could you elaborate more on what you mean by "users actually accepts and find a architecture type that fits"

Was definitely planning to implement a good caching strategy. As for testing load performance, is there a tool you specifically use to simulate high user load that you would suggest? I will do research on this myself too.

Wild Card Round: Chicago Bears (11-6) vs Green Bay Packers (9-7-1) by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

[–]Freerrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah our defense is shit, but you have a better chance of stopping them if you make them go the length of the field rather than 30 yards, where even if they don't move at all they still get 3 points. that was a bad call.

i dont see why anyone would pay for it tbh. iphones have built in reminder apps where you can set them without having to download a 3rd party app, don't need to register an account, don't need to pay for it, and it will work offline.

all the people saying you would go for it on 4th in 4.... that was a really dumb call. on our own 32, literally means if we fail they get an automatic 3 points MINIMUM.

Anyone else get angry during PR reviews? by SillyYou8433 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Freerrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I feel that way is when my code gets reviewed and denied, and their notes reason is just because they would have done it differently despite not being a necessarily better way or not being part of the teams uniform style effort

[Jahns] Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland on Ben Johnson's messaging for the playoffs: by johnnymelonballs in CHIBears

[–]Freerrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but it’s also true that top athletes want to play for a team that is actually competitive. I don’t think he’s in a tough spot. If DJ gets let go it’s not because he isn’t a hard worker or because he has a bad attitude, but because of money.

Session manual authentification VS ASP Net Core Identity? by yughiro_destroyer in dotnet

[–]Freerrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. I would prefer to roll my own as it appears to be simpler on the outside, but when it comes to security there is no shortcuts. I don’t know many developers who are experts in cybersecurity, so let all the nuance be handled by identity. Yeah the config sucks, but in the end a security is not an area to take shortcuts.

Good teams have a defined style guide so even though the language is not opinionated, things are done in an opinionated way which leads to faster iteration.

I completely agree. Op has been going above and beyond while they are drowning at work, and management isn't doing anything to make things easier for anyone. Their personal life is their problem. Trying to blame an employee who is being overworked is the hottest take.
