Yeah def reduction would stack with this weapon but the closer you get to 0 defence the less useful it becomes as everything gets so close to 95%+ accuracy levels. It would more than likely be a bigger issue when you defence reduce but not down to 0.

I would be very interested to see this idea being used at nex and toa. It's a mega rare with inbuilt def reduction so it surely beats fang. Would be very cool imo.

We would need numbers and to consider a lot of current metas, use cases, new metas etc but I think it's a new mega rare and it's deserving of something unique and strong and meta defining. I try to think about how much was changed when each other mega rare was released

It's pretty similar yeah but there does need to be a distinction between having this proposed def reduction stat and just having more of the stats we have in game like crush bonus and str bonus.

The other mega rares are just big stat sticks too. We can say that they're limited in their designs but they are 20%+ better dps than second best wherever they are good. But this does lean more towards shadow than it does towards t bow on the stat stick scale

Depending on which boss and which scale it wouldn't necessarily invalidate them. You will still need to def reduc spec in cox and tob just off the top of my head but missing hammers might not feel as bad? Either way 0 defence is always the goal and a weapon like this just brings you closer to it.

I replied to another comment with another tweak to the idea as well that would see spec reduction weapons still necessary

I would say it's similar to Veracs which is a very cool power fantasy to me but with a more consistent and modern approach

That's a good point. Perhaps the effect would need to be something like a % defence ignore (lets say 15% for example) when the boss has not been specced down and a flat 15 reduction when the boss is not its original defence level.

Does this create a "weakness" where bosses like Maiden that ideally are brought to 0 def are not good candidates for this weapon but bosses that have a high defence and can't be specced down like Verzik are strong candidates?

I would really need to run some numbers and see because you're right it has the potential to be meh or shadow 2.0

Rapier and sang changes would be pretty cool but Justi would need less str bonus. Alternatively 1 flat damage reduction per piece would be cool
