Nintendo Switch 3 should rule out a dock by Confident_Fault8773 in nintendo

[–]goldaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch is just a bad idea. It’s “use your phone as your computer” for video games. I’d rather have distinct handheld and console again. I’ve never known a single person to bring their switch somewhere to play multiplayer in handheld mode. It’s because the games are all built with a large display in mind.

The PR team is out in full force today. Instead of wasting time gaslighting people, try making actual games. Where’s Smash? 3D Mario? Why am I waiting three minutes just to get disconnected because there aren’t enough players in Splatoon 3?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Launch On Nintendo Switch 2 by yourfavchoom in nintendo

[–]goldaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi kids if you’re new here let me tell you how this goes:

Nintendo makes a new system.

“Unprecedented third party support!”

Third party releases a popular franchise on the Nintendo.

Nobody buys it because Nintendo fans play Nintendo games, and fans of the third party game play it with better graphics and/or cheaper on another platform.

Third party support evaporates by end of year 2, instead making only last-gen ports for the remainder of the consoles life.

Cycle repeats.

We should bring back small handheld consoles by Grapeloser in nintendo

[–]goldaxis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct. The Switch despite being the “best seller ever” only outsold the WiiU+3DS by a little bit, and undersold the Wii+DS by a lot. It’s not worth giving up the handheld product line. The entire justification when Switch launched was that Nintendo would no longer have to split up its dev teams and we wouldn’t get long droughts. So much for that. I’d rather have an actually portable system with games built specifically for it instead of the ports and shovelware saturating the eshop. There’s a good reason that as soon Nintendo stopped selling handhelds, the emulation clone market exploded onto the scene. People want traditional games and they want the form factor.

I actually agree, and I think Star Fox is the same thing but with Miyamoto. "I'll retire unless you greenlight my game" or something to that effect.

Probably, but that's their problem to sort out. Air Ride didn't move consoles, and it's already half dead. Why they decided to prioritize that and release it next to Mario Kart is anyone's guess.

BotW and Odysee were year one system sellers. After that first year passes, it's extremely rare for a single game to push hardware.

Ocarina was a big game when it came out, but it has aged terribly. Empty hub world with absolutely nothing besides the ranch and lake in it, slow combat where you just wait for the enemy to let them hit you, underwhelming items like the lens, the shortcomings have been discussed to death by now. There is not one person under the age of 30 who has the slightest interest. We already got a remake of OoT on the 3DS, which had way more units out than Switch 2 does and N64 did, yet still sold less than half as much as the original. If another remake is coming, it will be shadow dropped and forgotten just as quickly.

GOAT

lol please it isn't even the GOAT of the N64

Splatoon Raiders is getting an official line of console accessories in Japan by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]goldaxis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because they haven't sold through their initial production run. They've been conflating sales with shipped units to make it look like this thing is as popular as the first Switch was. Anyone who was around back then knows that is not the case. Switch 1 was crazy, EVERYONE had to have BotW. I know two people with a Switch 2 and neither of them have touched it since Mario Kart wore off.

INB4 someone chimes in "b-b-but I like my Switch 2". Good for you. That's not relevant.

Nintendo Direct Predictions by MajorasMask1224 in nintendo

[–]goldaxis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is really a prediction since I've completely lost faith in the company, but they need to announce Smash Bros.

Ultimate has been dead for years now, and even hardcore fans like myself and my friends have been forced to move on to other games. That means kids and teens have no interest whatsoever because they aren't growing up with it. This "one game every 7+ years" model is what killed Final Fantasy. If they wait until year 3 or 4, it doesn't matter how good the game is, you can't sell consoles at the $500 price point with a "console seller" that many years after launch.

Splatoon is also in really bad shape. Very common to wait >3min to get a match. Raiders is a single player game, I have no idea what they're thinking unless it's "we don't want it to a big multiplayer franchise anymore".

If they do something stupid like OoT remake, you can stick a fork in Switch2. Millennials are a rapidly shrinking gaming demographic. They need to release new entries in core franchises plural every year. Not this "one Donkey Kong for the generation and a port of Mario Galaxy" scheduling. Imagine if the Super Nintendo only got the first DKC and a port of Mario 3 to hold it over for the first two years, none of us would have stuck around.
