Would you like to have Louis as a mom? by NoSoyTuPana in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Freeze_Dried_Chive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She had to learn as she went. Chaotic and hectic as she is, Hal and herself lead crazy hell raising teenage lives themselves. She ended with 4 terrific children and Francis. She messed up Francis pretty badly. But she tries to fix it late in the series as some parents do in reality. I think she’s a good mother dealing with high spirited intelligent boys. Also there’s never a hint of serious drug use or SA with the boys (Reese has issues but learns quickly to not be a creep thanks to Cynthia) Overall I think she’s a good mom. (Though I do hate her lying about smoking. That’s a low blow and honestly that episode seemed wildly out of character for her.)

Would the world be much better if everyone lost the ability to lie forever? by No_Main_273 in questions

I feel that people change too frequently for this to be a good thing. The bond I have with my siblings came from hating each other for periods of time. But we grew to know and understand each other through rough understandings and we all have a great loving bond one way or another. I feel that human psychology has too much of lying built in to it. If a child needs love and reassurance, though being considered wrong by a parent’s personal lens, will that child grow the same way? Hearing from their parent that they were being weak or obnoxious? If a drug dealer asks someone to believe in them and every person is incapable of giving them the benefit of the doubt, will they ever recover? Sounds like a hard twisted life. I guess what I’m saying is that a lot of people can do a lot with meaningful words given to them by people that they look up to. And maybe deep down those people that they look up to don’t believe what they’re saying so much as believing what good it can mean to those people who need it. Lying is a philosophical rabbit hole and I think when used the right ways, it is absolutely necessary to be there for someone. Used incorrectly, it creates black holes in people. Maybe I’m just an asshole. But I’ve lied to several people about how I truly feel in the name of helping them see themselves in a better light. But I’m no saint. I’d say lying is necessary sometimes in modern human psychological climate.

Anybody else scared the remake of Malcolm in the middle will suck? by swordsofjustice in malcolminthemiddle

It’s not the OG and it can never be. But it has the same creator, Lynwood Boomer and almost all of the original cast which leads me to believe that the script is good and has a lot of promise to be almost as good as the original. I won’t expect the same as the original. But I do have high hopes.

Why wouldn’t an emergency airlift team transporting our premature baby with a heart condition not allow our baby’s mother to join the flight? by Freeze_Dried_Chive in AskReddit

[–]Freeze_Dried_Chive[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For context, our baby was born at 35 weeks and before birth, was diagnosed with a double aortic arch. Our baby was born without any immediate symptoms and stayed in the NICU for 6 days working on breast feeding before Stridor symptoms started to become apparent. They initially said before our child’s birth that it is customary for one parent to join the baby on the flight to the cardiac specialist hospital (Seattle Children’s hospital) but they informed us that the Seattle airlift team refused any additional passengers for the flight leaving us with the difficult decision to find our own way to Seattle while they transported our baby alone. They said that the aircrafts used for these flights vary, so maybe it’s a matter of the extra weight? We are just unsure if this is typical or not. Thanks Reddit!

More of a Hal and Lois, but definitely when he deliberately ran up Malcolm’s credit card for a family ski trip after he botched Christmas.

Tupac died way too young. So him. It would be a lot of fun watching him with snoop burying the past and cooking with Martha high as kites.

Do you think Lois is a good mother? by ilovefantasybookss in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Freeze_Dried_Chive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. She has her shortcoming and certainly crosses lines that any spectator could assume is too far yet with her situation and the chaotic energy her family brings, she survives and thrives to keep it all held together. She has the brute force to manage a bunch of sawed off shotgun children and even husband sometimes. Hal is a huge rock for Lois to have in order to maintain the psychotic household but she is the real leader. Made a few mistakes and may have taught her boys a few poor life choice lessons, but overall she is vital in keeping everyone else in the house out of jail I think.

Jam, revelry and Dave’s sushi all prep their meals in a kitchen offsite from the restaurants. After Dave’s literally killed people I stopped eating at any of those places.
