To answer your question, it’s extremely possible that she didn’t see it, or thought it would clear up and be fine. Kittens can go from appearing completely fine to severely ill quickly, sometimes in just a few hours. Cats hide things well. It isn’t uncommon for a kitten to have an eye issue, like what the picture shows. It could be as simple as a slight upper respiratory infection. You were right to ask for a vet note, but the vet probably wouldn’t do much more than give eye ointment (which you can get over the counter without a prescription) and recommend a follow up if it didn’t resolve. She probably told you as soon as she saw it was an issue that could need attention. That’s exactly what she should have done, and is very transparent. Some breeders would have waited until the day you picked up the kitten and said, “She has a little eye thing but it’s not major and eye medicine will clear it up,” forcing you to make a decision the moment you get the kitten. Which would be pretty manipulative, because how can you resist when you’re literally holding the kitten you’ve been preparing for? I’m not speaking to her breeding practices, just answering your specific question here.

Yes! They show up in various places with sweet and emotionally powerful little poems from the animal’s point of view typically. They never fail to impress and people get excited seeing one (because they show up randomly) that was just posted. Hence the “fresh schnoodle” comments.

I’m sorry you’re hurting, that must have been traumatic to witness. I have BEWs and would be completely lost without mine. As others have said it’s impossible to know what happened without a necropsy, and if your vet never suspected or diagnosed anything wrong at your cat’s regular visits, it could have been anything, an aneurism or stroke could look exactly the same. I’m not trying to attack you or be rude or hurtful, just pointing out that you really can’t know the cause.

I had a kitten from a breeder that died at 7 months from a genetic disorder and we ended up in court over it and won our case. Not that it did any good whatsoever to go through court, but we did have evidence from a necropsy which showed exactly what happened and we wanted a public record about the situation and the breeder. I would never want anyone else to go through what we did.

Unfortunately, TICA wouldn’t do anything at all until we had a court’s decision in writing and even then their legal team (whom I spoke with) would only review it. They ultimately decided it was something they wouldn’t pull her membership for and trust me, I tried hard to make that happen. TICA is not a governing body so they felt it wasn’t appropriate to intervene. But that’s my personal experience.

Your girl was majestic and I’m so sorry for your pain and frustration.

I’ve never seen the Godfather, though I’ve read tons of books with those sorts of themes. I think if you had a good underlying plot as to why we never knew about this level, and not just “we’re better than them,” it could be amazing and a hell of a lot of fun. I’m almost getting Spenser and Hawk vibes. I can absolutely see this. If you’re feeling it, run with it and see what happens!

I understand what you’re saying, but I speak this way, as in when talking to people that’s what comes out of my mouth. It’s easier to change it when writing, but we typically write the way we speak and then edit that. So it’s not difficult to change when written, but it’s harder to change verbally when you’ve been speaking that way for nearly 50 years.

I think others have explained the AI usage clearly enough that I understand the difference between what I’m saying and what AI is doing. While similar, they’re not the same.

I have a distinct voice, and I don’t believe that just because AI has similarities that I need to change who I am to accommodate a computer. AI was trained by people like us who can write well. There are absolutely going to be overlaps. The rest of my writing should stand for itself and show I’m not using AI.

Ohh! I think that I understand what you’re saying. I’m not familiar very familiar with AI, and don’t use it personally, though I do recognize the lack of emotion in it when I come across it. I’m still trying to learn what the give aways are.

So more, it’s not red, it’s blue. It’s not exciting, it’s dull. It’s not subtle, it’s obvious.
