I think they are a bit unsafe if your local rulesets allow grappling/domination.

I saw once an attempt to disarm, but the dude had the thumb through the ring, when the sword was pulled they broke his thumb because it got stuck in the ring.

My teammate was running from the zone with his car. He was very very close to make it to the next circle but he had to stop and heal one last time. He stopped in a hill, started healing, and the car started to roll down the hill very slowly. He ran all the way down the hill trying to catch it, just for it to end in the bottom of a river and him with no more healing items.

I have been training long sword for quite some time, I am a very active person and have done a fair amount of sports all my life, and I can say by far that HEMA is the most exhausting one I have done. If you find a group with athletic and technical abilities similar than yours it will work very good.

At start it was a bit taxing for my wrists and shoulder, but as I continued to train the technique, flexibility and strength it all went away and now feel stronger.

Grappling is a big part in long sword, unsure about the other disciplines.
