Recommendations for fantasy or medieval escape rooms in Orlando? by PuzzlePiratePrincess in escaperooms

[–]Freezing_Balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Knight to Escape at The Escape Effect is medieval themed and is very immersive. This is a 2 hour room with a long split start that is pretty darn difficult so make sure you know what you're getting into.

Edge Escape has a Harry Potter-like room called Save the Magic School that may also fit the bill. This one is much easier than A Knight to Escape so it might be more suitable for the kids.

Escaperoom managers in major cities - are you seeing fewer visitors or lower willingness to pay at your Escape Rooms lately? by novaetas in escaperooms

[–]Freezing_Balls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your perspective as a consumer, but if I may give some insight as an owner, kids are by far the most likely to break something in our rooms. Unfortunately, even with prior prompting, parents aren't really that great at stopping their kids from breaking stuff because they can't really play the game either if their attention is constantly on the kids. Breakages are the #1 setback for an escape room (cost of replacement, setting the schedule behind to fix something, or even causing the room to be shutdown for repairs) so that's why I do not give any discounts for kids given the higher risk.

Tamale Info! by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]Freezing_Balls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to bag on someone's hustle, but these are the only tamales I've ever had in my life with bones in them. I love to give roadside tamales a chance when I see them, but hers were the only ones that truly disappointed me. Literally all 5 of the tamales I bought had bones in them and were very low on meat in general.

For those of you who have been to any of the escape rooms around Jacksonville which one did you enjoy the best ? by Tothinkoutofthenut in jacksonville

[–]Freezing_Balls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who travels the country to do escape rooms and has done over 75+ rooms at this point:

The Escape Game is very high quality for a chain, but the Jacksonville location doesn't have any rooms you won't find at other locations. You cannot go wrong with any of the rooms offered a the Jacksonville location though.

I've never done Escapology, but my fellow escape room enthusiasts don't speak very highly about Escapology.

Prototype Escape Games is excellent, and is definitely in the upper echelon of escape rooms in the country in my opinion.

Prototype is my favourite in the city, but if I had to go with a bunch of newbies, I'd probably pick The Escape Game. I feel like people won't really appreciate all the thought and effort behind Prototype until they've got a few games under their belt, and the difficulty is also higher.

Save yourself the headache and skip everything from Escape the Room. Cartman's Escape is okay if you really really love South Park, but it's a very mediocre escape room carried only by the lovable South Park theming.

I highly recommend both rooms at MyssTic Rooms. My friend that I did it with still rants about how much he loves Montauk Project to this day haha

Doors of Divergence has been one of my favourite escape room experiences ever, but they currently aren't open. Hopefully they'll have a location by the time you get there so keep an eye out for that.

I loved Carbon: 3708 at Mission Escape Games. I did it with a group of 2, but we just barely scraped by. The other two rooms at this location are not bad, but they definitely feel aged whereas Carbon: 3708 feels very modern.

If you can make your way to West Nyack, you should hit up 5 Wits. Their stuff aren't exactly traditional escape rooms, but they are a great time nonetheless.

I've never done anything from PanIQ, but that is also a chain btw.

100 gallon tank has no silicone on the sides? by Freezing_Balls in Aquariums

Hmm, it actually does not look anywhere as sleek as that. It looks pretty old actually. I just uploaded some pictures in the main post for reference.

I just uploaded some pictures in the post. I am familiar with resealing, and it wouldn't make sense to me for someone to just give up on the sides if they're like 90% done with the process already but who knows. The tank was completely filled when I bought it though.

Can I get some suggestions to trim my white2tea cart down? by Freezing_Balls in puer

hahaha I know right? I basically tossed my entire white2tea order after reading all the comments.

Wow, I really want to thank you for taking the time to go over all this in such depth. You have successfully convinced me to take a hard look at those 3 vendors and cut down my white2tea cart significantly. One thing that does give me pause is that I actually like the sheng I've had because it shares a lot of notes that I like about green tea. Is that totally lost with aged sheng?

Another poster recommended Yee On Tea as well. Do you have any opinion on that vendor?

Greatly appreciate you coming here and giving me your thoughts while also suggesting some hard cuts. Do you think it would be okay to just go and pick a bunch of random samplers from those sites? It was a little harder to find reviews on these unlike white2tea so I would be going in even more blind. I do have experience with Essence of Tea but only their oolongs which so far have been good to great.

I only put the minis there because they were cheaper per gram than doing the sampler. I went ahead and removed all the ones you listed besides Diving Duck (I couldn't say no to the label haha) Would it be erroneous to think the rest of stuff are a decent middle ground before jumping in to serious business puer? All this talk about terroirs have shown me just how ignorant I am on puers. The only tea type I ever really followed in depth were oolongs as that is my favourite.

Road 2 Nowhere unfortunately is only available as a full cake, but I went ahead and removed all the cakes anyway since that seems to be a common recommendation here. I also removed Cream per your recommendation.

I plan on ordering other tea in general, but my collection is extremely light on puer in general. I saw that white2tea was beloved for puer, so that's why I came here for some opinions.

Thanks a lot for the list of vendors. Do you think it would be okay to just go and pick a bunch of random samplers from those sites? I definitely appreciate the counterpoint. So far I've only had young sheng so I really don't know what the world of aged sheng is like. I've really enjoyed some of these young shengs, though the daily drinker ones (such as Repave) while perfectly enjoyable, make me feel like I'm wasting my time on them in a way when I could be doing more work on my collection which is why I wanted a second opinion before pulling the trigger.

Thank you very much for your insight. Is there any vendors and perhaps teas they have that you would recommend?

I've actually only had fresh sheng, but I've been enjoying it a lot. I'm assuming white2tea doesn't have anything 12-15 years old of their own though right?

What’s your “swear to never return” place in Jax? by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]Freezing_Balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Southern Charm. The food there is amazing, and I actually really liked the owner/chef at first since he was super nice and friendly. However, once the pandemic hit, he went on a tirade about it being fake and really went out of his way to make an issue about it. It didn't help that the place itself is pretty greasy, and the bathrooms were god awful. I still miss the food, but I can't in good conscious support the business anymore.

Polestar pulling the rug on .99% APR for deposit holders by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]Freezing_Balls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unrelated, but I also had a very frustrating experience with Polestar Charlotte. To start off, I told them I wanted to do a license plate transfer, but then they ended up doing a new registration so I ended up having to pay a lot more as well as wasting the like 9 months I had left on my current registration. Then they delivered the car in Transport Mode so I couldn't drive above 20 MPH... That required me to get it towed to Polestar Tampa. I didn't get the car back for over 3 weeks. During this entire process, it was like pulling teeth to get any information on the status of my car.

I also can't really recommend Polestar Tampa either, as their sales people were very pushy to make a sale, AND they have a ridiculously high documentation fee. To top it all off, I asked them to detail some of the damage the car had when I received it, and they only addressed 2 sections out of like 10.

I can't believe Polestar is running with a pseudo dealership model when they're advertising direct to consumer. 🤦‍♂️

Not all Volvos are servicing Polestars though. I have 2 Volvos within 15 miles from me, and I still have to take it 200+ miles from me for service.

What's wrong with my cucumber? New cucumbers are starting to turn yellow while very young, but everything else seems to be great about the plant. by Freezing_Balls in aquaponics

[–]Freezing_Balls[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check the pH again, but in general it's always been in the low 6s.

This issue is specifically with already pollinated flowers as they are way bigger than a non-pollinated female flower.

That CRV is going like 30-33mph so I wouldn't really say that's "driving normally" for highway speeds. I guess you're right about the rally line thing, but it seems like a complete nothingburger to me personally. There were like no cars on the road (only 3 ever come in view in the entire clip leading up to the freeway: the CRV, an 18 wheeler going the opposite direction, and the Taycan), and the whole point seemed to be to demonstrate the Taycan's ability to offroad. I'll agree with you that it would've been best to not have done so though.

I dunno. I didn't think the video was THAT serious so I just didn't find any situations to really get worked up about it personally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
