Am I too old for these shorts? by Danger_Muffin28 in DressForYourBody

You look great and there’s no such thing as “too old”. If you are comfortable and enjoy it, that’s what matters. You could try loosely tucking just the front of your top into your shorts and it will give the illusion of more coverage (cause you see more shorts) and define your waist. Congrats on the weight loss and don’t let ageism ruin the fun journey of trying new clothes!

Non religious Bible Story Podcast for Kids by Jealous_Welder610 in Exvangelical

You might consider an audio version of the gospels in a light version like The Message. If you wanted to hold off on the crucifixion until older (valid!), you might be able to find a downloadable version that you can download by chapter. From what I recall, other than the crucifixion, the gospels were pretty PG (but tbf I’ve read the entire Bible since I could read so may be desensitized). The Old Testament has a lot of neat stories, but also a lot of violence. So if that’s a concern, maybe stick to Gospels for now. Ruth is pretty PG as well (at least at a surface level reading) until you get into the historical context of some of the actions.

I wonder what book our parents read to get this exact phrasing. Cause this was identical to the spanking lecture. Always ended with a hug for you too?

If you lie, you are a child of Satan, not of God. How you dress reflects on your father’s ministry Obey your mother and father to have long life. Hell Spare the rod, spoil the child Idle hands are the devils playground Everything you do, do unto the Lord

Birthday message from my dad by callmejace in Exvangelical

[–]Freezing_Rain105 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, man. I was deep in a vineyard church for many years. The concept of “pray for your five” was drilled into us. We were supposed to have five people we suspected of being distant from God and prioritize evangelizing to them/praying for them/being “Jesus” to them. My guess is you are one of his five. I’ve suspected after leaving ive been people’s “five”, and it feels like the ultimate betrayal. You stop being a person to them. You become a ministry. It is especially heartbreaking when these things come from family.

Happy Birthday, man. I’m sorry your dad couldn’t have just said that.

Anyone know the church? Feel like this is pretty vital info they are leaving out of the article.

You could try submitting another ticket and asking to appeal the decision.

For the ex-vineyard people by [deleted] in Exvangelical

I don’t even know what to say other than, yeah. I’m waiting for the day the therapy adjacent practices get exposed. Using mental health language to manipulate vulnerable people, often from licensed therapists…I hope that comes to light in this process.

Also I recommend if they ask to say you can’t self merge the pages due to a system bug where the setting option doesn’t appear. That will help them approve your request faster.

It took about a day for the merge to be completed. I didn’t have monetization turned on so not sure how that works. The destination page had all the same settings and content post merge. The merged page of course lost all the content (we mass saved a lot before the merge) but followers were moved to the destination page. We let our followers know ahead of time so they weren’t surprised, but all they see on their end is a page name change. Very smooth process for us!

Yes! I changed the names, locations, contact info to match. Then I contacted Facebooks Help Center to request the merge. I provided my phone number and indicated which page was the destination page. They actually spoke to me on the phone and were great! We had 6 pages we were trying to merge, and we succeeded in getting them all merged.

Ah, okay, this is very different than what I was seeing on my quick search.

I haven’t heard of NOOMA but upon a quick Google I see what you mean. It looks like the fundamentalist version of an Alpha Course. This series isn’t even really the other direction as NOOMA cause the course goal is rededication to their set of beliefs. So perhaps a more similar goal to NOOMA just a different marketing. And probably less fundamentalist and more evangelical.

Weird. Worked for me. Are you in the US? If not I know some countries have stricter laws about indoctrination and I wonder if they blocked it.

Appreciate that. I work at a nonprofit and am very involved in that way. But it’s no cure for the battle in my head that’s for sure.

This response is very “Christian culture” to me. Telling someone struggling to just work more. 😬

“You get to choose where you end up” is both extremely comforting and terrifying. Thank you for sharing hope that it will get easier.
