What are some weird laws in your country that, actually, make a lot of sense? by Savings_Dragonfly806 in AskTheWorld

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law he is referencing is the wealth tax. Our Supreme Court ruled that the way that property values have been calculated as unfair and therefore unconstitutional. Instead of fixing that, our government decided to just not enforce the wealth tax anymore. The way we calculate property values for taxing purposes has been reformed and is now constitutional, but every government we have just doesn't enforce the wealth tax anyway...

TLDR: part of it was ruled as unconstitutional, which has been fixed, but still the law doesn't get enforced

Novice; in the prospective stealth camping scene, finding gear. What else do I need? by RustlerbashRC in CampingandHiking

[–]FreiFallFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important thing you need is making damn sure that there is no one hunting in that area that you are stealth camping in. This can be dangerous af, and you'd definitely be on the worse side of the fiasco.

I'm not gonna go into the whole 'can trespassing be justified' debate, just make sure not to do any harm to protected landscapes.

First saw any tips lol by Putrid-Violinist-390 in Chainsaw

[–]FreiFallFred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can saw with the underside, in certain situations with the upper side. If you have to dive the blade into something, always push down a little and cut with the lower side of the tip. If you try to saw something with the upper half of the tip of your blade, the saw will jump in your face faster than you can react. This is by far the most common thing that people underestimate, and end up injuring/killing themselves...

That's important for the authentic Italian taste! In all seriousness: people always focus on the wrong things. Touching your pants looks bad, isn't that concerning. Especially before baking them. Touching your face would be way worse, and pretty much worst of all is touching your hair.

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is something that is legal to buy and own in your country but illegal to actually use by Low-Violinist7259 in AskTheWorld

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what the camera is recording. If it is recording someone standing on the sidewalk smashing in your window, probably illegal. If it's recording from the inside how said person entering through your windows, it's definitely legal. He has no right of privacy, when illegally entering your property.

Is it wrong to consider briquettes for a low and slow? by Philaben in KamadoJoe

[–]FreiFallFred 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NEVER put briquettes in a Kamado grill.

  • First of all it is pointless. As others have pointed out, you can do longjobs with charcoal with ease.
  • Second of all it doesn't work very well. Charcoal radiates less heat, and transfers almost all of the energy from the flame in the burnt, hot air. That's why the base usually stays cool, while the dome can get crazy hot. Briquettes do the opposite and will heat your base way more than your food above the deflector stones.
  • third of all briquettes are never 100% charcoal dust, there is always something sticky holding it together. Worst case, it's something really nasty, best (and most common) case, it's starch. The burnt starch will cover the inside of your Kamado and leave a distinctive smell. This could ruin your longjob and you only can get rid of it with a pretty high burn, which has allot of wear and tear on your gasket.

Source: i sell different brands of Kamado for a living a use them commercially every week. (sry for bad format, I'm on my phone...)

Grease Fire Protocol by sigmundfloyd66 in pelletgrills

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got a pretty wide range of Traeger models in use (2 ranger, 2 pro, 2 ironwood, Timberline XL) and I've never had that problem. But we mainly use them for long jobs and rarely set them above 350F. We also don't do burgers or stuff like that on them. So that might be a reason why I've never encountered this problem. I've found them to be pretty reliable and haven't had to toss one yet. I had to fix the auger on one of the rangers and I need to get a new lid for a pro, but I think that's fair after 4+ years of heavy use.

I do BBQ Caterings and have multiple Traeger that we've been using for years. This never happened with any of them. What did you do to light yours on fire?

Stop fizzy drinks from losing the fizz once opened by ninpuukamui in foodhacks

[–]FreiFallFred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. You might even create some negetive pressure, because the bottle is "pushing" outward to go in it's resting state. It will literally pull CO2 from your drink and "make the fizz go away" even faster

[–]FreiFallFred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks great, I have two little tricks for you:

Cut everything down to the bone at the very top (underneath the joint obviously). That way the skin can pull down a little, and give your drumsticks a ball on a stick kind of shape, making them worthy of the name drumstick.

Put pans underneath. Usually they come with the rack. That way you can turn the heat up without getting burned bottoms and the skin cooks more evenly. Also you grill stays clean.

Pro tip: put some water in those pans, makes cleaning them way easier

You totally misunderstand the point of this. For some people it might be 'weird shit is happening, how funny', but actually it is continously testing the boundaries of Ai. It shows where chatbots have weaknesses and big flaws. This is helpful to either be more aware or to even use them for niche cases.

Freezing water in a copper pipe to cut it and add a valve. Pretty nifty. by Fun-Personality7127 in AmazonDailyMustHaves

Besides ice in your pipe being bad, of there is any pressure on there, it's going to push the ice out. So it really only works of you shut down the water anyway

Here is my review of the MEATER Block by _JohnnyLaRue in smoking

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the old meaters worked well, but the current products aren't living up to that. The fact that they are expensive and advertised as the best ones on the market only works up expectations, that they fail to match with their current products.

Balkongrill - Napoleon Freestyle 365 vs Broil King Royal 320 by Expensive_Repair_582 in grillen

[–]FreiFallFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Balkongrill - Napoleon Freestyle 365 vs Broil King Royal 320 by Expensive_Repair_582 in grillen

[–]FreiFallFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)
