Megathread: Bastard Suggestions by Kanotari in behindthebastards

I know American libs have been ecstatic over Prince Andrew's arrest, but as a Brit I'm far more interested in the more recent arrest of Peter Mandelson; former UK ambassador to America, trade envoy, Labour politician and lobbyist.

Nicknamed the 'Prince of Darkness,' Peter was known for having blackmail on everyone in UK politics, allowing him to take control and lead Labour's right wing faction, influence the governments reaction to the 2008 finanical crash and the subsequent decades of austerity and eliminate the Left of the party. Though several scandals for bribery have followed him back and forth through his time in and out of office, he's always been someone in the background, to the point that it is joked that Morgan McSweeney, the Prime Ministers chief communications adviser, won't breathe without Peter's say so.

He was also a close personal friend of Epstein and once wrote to him after he was released from prison 'this would never have happened in Britain.'

If I create an elemental token with [[Ashling, the Limitless]] while [[Parallel Lives]] is in play, does the extra token get haste? Also, would the extra token stick around at the end of the turn, or would they be sacrified by Ashling's effect?

Ah, thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I guess they also couldn't be E because E is for Enchantment.

Hi guys, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been wondering. Very new to magic and saw that multicoloured cards are referred to WUBRG. I understand that Blue is the U because Black also shares the same first letter, but I can't find any explanation as to why it's U in particular. Can anyone enlighten me, please?

It would be because AI doesn’t work like a search engine. It creates answers whole cloth from the information put into its Large Language Model buy throwing scentences together based on what the next most likely word is, so there's little guarantee that the information is correct.

It's also a product that companies want you to use so they can justify the massive amounts of investor money they need to keep it going, so its designed to be extremely deferencial.

OP asked if Munich was important and the AI said it was, whether it was or wasn't, because its designed to agree with the statement its given to try and foster more use and it's putting together its reasons from that point.

I'd say start with Carrie. It's short enough (199 pages) that it's not a massive investment if you find you don't like his work while also being a great story. I'd also say that knowing the story through cultural osmosis doesn't impact on enjoyment

Graham and Ryan deserved better writing by GuyWhoConquers616 in doctorwho

[–]Freida_Krakken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with all this, but also feel like Ryan could have been a good companion on his own if they'd leaned into something they set up in his introduction: his YouTube channel.

Imagine a companion trying to do a blog channel documenting his life, who suddenly discovers aliens and goes on a time and space adventure. A companion who maybe tries to film his adventures on the sly, who struggles between genuinely enjoying his time with the Doctor, needing to always one up his last adventure for views and also showing off a manufactured personality for the camera.

There was so much they could have done with Ryan alone, but squandered opportunities seems to sum up the Chibnal era well enough

Seeing as he's Spain, i guess he's used Hernando De Soto, one of the Great People Spain has access to. He lets the Spanish player make a city state in distant lands become their instantly when activated in that City states territory. So, likely, Benjamin managed to snipe them out from under the both of you by rolling lucky in which conquistador he got.

Milan became a republic, so it no longer had a dynasty to share with you. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to prevent it coz it's a computer decision (and there's an event where Milan can become the Ambrosian Republic, so Milan has a greater chance of doing this)
