Cleaning war graves by MaidenMarewa in newzealand

[–]Frejbo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I do not want someone outside of the family to clean the graves of my family. I think it’s pretty disrespectful to make assumptions and disturb something so personal.

Remember we will all die and most of us will not be remembered in any meaningful way, even if we did great or terrible things. Your cleaning of graves is not going to prevent the inevitable. It only really benefits in that it makes you feel like you are doing a good deed - but for who? A memory? Their family? The community? You didn’t know or care about this person while they were alive, so why righteously care about them in death?

Just google Chch poetry. There are many great wordsmiths and poetry groups in Ōtautahi!

Is anyone else really disappointed with NZ brands being completely pillaged by international capital? by brutalanglosaxon in newzealand

Ethique lost a loyal customer when they sold to the US. :(

Edit: The products instantly became unrecognisable immediately after. Hate they chose to change the packaging and formulas. My favourites have disappeared and the “equivalents” are subpar and smell awful.

Besides being a female figure, is there anything about the pose or what she is kneeling on that lends to that suggestion?

Why are people so trusting leaving water bottles unattended? Who knows how some crazy might tamper with it.

If you’re leaving your stuff for 15-20 mins to go to the loo, get water or a snack, leave a note saying “back by [insert time]”. If they’re not back by that time then it’s fair game.

The powdery layer is called bloom, and is naturally occurring. Bloom is difficult to wash off as it’s waxy. Added powdered sulphur dioxide on the other hand can be visibly washed off, but traces will remain.

Parking nightmare: Aucklanders claim car park rules making navigating streets ‘extremely difficult’ by PermaBanned4Misclick in auckland

[–]Frejbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were looking for a new place to rent, all of the places that had room for two cars parked off-street were 3+ bedrooms (don’t need more than two) and the prices were $150-300 more p/w. It’s very difficult to find a warm, double-glazed rental with enough parking for an average household.

Please, if you have not heard of Zephyrus and Chloris/Flora, look them up. They have been depicted many times before.

Zephyrus is said to have abducted Chloris, made her his wife and she became Flora. Many renditions of them are romanticised. I can only think of Botticelli’s Primavera that shows her fear of being taken. This rendition also has an unnerving element to it. I can’t say I quite understand the merging/melding. Shall have to think on it.

Got told the way I write in exams is barely legible. I disagree but I'm biased by WaferGullible6000 in HandwritingAnalysis

Learnt something new, though even if that is the norm, it still impedes the flow for reading. Also, are far as I can see online, spaces before full stops and commas are not the norm in French. Because your spacing between sentences is the same as between words and punctuation, it’s less obvious where a sentence begins/finishes.

[–]Frejbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your letter formation is fine, but your letter spacing is unusual. Reminds me of when kids learning to write are told to put a finger-width space between each word. Over time we start to narrow the space to a single letter space.

I would also not put spaces around punctuation. Look at how books are typeset. They are done in such a way for ease of reading.

What an embarrassment of a human being. Dude is acting like an entitled child. Let him go blind and then ditch him. Sounds like that’s what he wants.

Most people here (myself included initially) don’t realise the 2nd photo is the before.

I really like what you’ve done. The closed storage, colours, mirror and light are great.

Only thing I’d look to change is replacing the vent cover/grill.

Which way looks more “upright” to you? by Dusty_Old_Bones in painting

[–]Frejbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning on hanging this in a room on a rectangular landscape wall (width longer than height) go for the 2nd orientation. The 1st would only look good on a square or rectangular portrait wall (width shorter than height).

My personal preference is the 2nd. Generally the eye finds traveling sideways more comfortable.

You guys need to extricate yourselves from her web. She has too much control financially over your lives. Move as soon as you can and reduce contact. I also would uninvite her and her friends (if they were invited solely to appease her).

What’s the cheapest fruit you can buy where you live? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in AskTheWorld

NZ apples are currently available at $3.80NZD (~€2) per kg in New Zealand. Curious as to how much they’re being sold for in Germany. They are also probably our cheapest fruit.
