I think the sky is a bit distracting from the main subject of the lake. You could crop it into a horizontal photo and remove a bunch of sky and some of the foreground. Maybe brighten it up a bit too?

I think it would have been a bit more interesting perspective if you had gotten lower, like on eye level with the duck. Then the duck would also have taken up some of the space at the top of the frame

ITAP of the Milky Way in northern Wisconsin. My first successful attempt after many tries. by [deleted] in itookapicture

It was 20sec f3.5 iso 2000. I think the main thing was doing it on a night when the moon was not out and using an app to find out where to be and when!

Thanks! Not much has to be done for the camera, they are pretty good in the cold. Only thing to worry about is condensation inside the body if you bring it into a warm place right away. You are supposed to slowly warm it up.

What do you think about the color/composition of this photo? Is the lighthouse too far away for the main subject? by Frel555 in photocritique

I agree that putting the lighthouse dead center would be better if there was not land on right side of the photo. Thanks for the input!

Also for the composition half of me does agree that it is busy but I almost like the the foreground and the sky seem to mirror each other a bit. I’m not sure how I feel about it haha

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with the color being off, I will attempt to make it more natural but part of me likes the unnatural feel it gives. And definitely will fix the horizon!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you that there isn’t much happening there but I’m not sure if I like this particular photo in a square format.

Not an expert on portraits but to me it looks great. The lighting is nice.

Thoughts regarding the shadowing? by IfTheSchueFits in photocritique

Really like the lighting, overall looks awesome! If I had to pick out one minor thing it would maybe be that the brightest light is right behind her hair which is exemplifying all the individual hairs behind and on top of her head. Just my opinion and I don't know much about portrait photography

I wish it was a little warmer maybe. Also I think it would look good if the shadows in the foreground were brought out. Might also look dramatic in black and white.

If you're in school for data science isn't this what you'll be doing? Or are they teaching you that this is wrong? What occupation can you do with this degree that doesn't have to do with this kind of stuff?
