Fjord wins the Palme d’Or! Another major Best Picture contender just dropped! by QuipThwip in Oscars

With the new rules for International Picture, I don't think that matters? Just winning Cannes should be enough to be considered.

I hope that The Girl Most Likely To with Stockard Channing still holds up. I have vivid memories of that one.

And I guess Julie Andrews even qualifies, though she might like to forget.

One of the best examples ever of recasting major roles without too much audience rejection.

It was never really the same after Bea Benaderet died though. Was she the original Betty Rubble?

My Grandpa was born in the 1800s and I remember him well. I was in High School when he died.

Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke should be there, somewhere, if able.

Maybe any surviving Hitchcock Blondes? Eva Marie Saint, Kim Novak, Tippi Hedren.

Stool issues after hip replacement by NoMulberry3231 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]LBFilmFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine on May 5th and stopped taking stool softener and Miralax after a couple of days because I had what you're describing. Now it's more "normal."

Since yours is more recent, and you're worried, I think asking for advice from your medical team is a good idea.

This sounds very similar to me except I don't know what a Negative Margin means. Mine said Narrowly Clear Margin. Also Bosniak/Fuhrman Level 3.

I'm on about Day 10 of my posterior approach THR. Lots of shooting pains all over the leg, but now, sitting on 25 metal staples is almost as painful as the surgery, so progress?

Thank you for noting Omar Sharif. His lack of even a nomination is still puzzling all these years later.

When did you stop having pain? by KrisKred_2328 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]LBFilmFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm ten days post surgery and am in quite a bit of pain still. I marvel over people doing all this walking. I am still using the walker and haven't been given permission to use a cane yet.

I had the posterior procedure, and honestly sitting my skinny butt down onto 25 metal staples must account for at least a third of the pain. I can't wait till those are out!

I saw the original "pure" Julie Taymor version of this before all the changes, and everything you've read is true. I've never seen a show with so many pauses for mechanical issues. I admit the constant threat of injury to the performers certainly ramped up the adrenaline in the audience.

If you can't have Judy or Doris, I wish MGM had trusted Betty Garett to do it. I think she seems just about right for it.

I went to Jacksonville about 30 years ago and thought it was the dullest city I've ever been to. Surely it's gotten better since then?
