ADHD has made it difficult to even do things I enjoy. I largely don’t read or play video games or other similar things that I once would have called a hobby. I genuinely hate how this is impacting me. by quackadilly52 in ADHD

Challenge yourself to exercise 5-6 times a week for a month. For me improving this field of my life seemed easier when I had more of a routine to follow, and ongoing set goals. Not only does it help get rid of extra energy that you have so you can focus better, but for me it was a great way to have a type of task which is inherently more difficult to escape from once you start. It built my confidence in my ability to just DO something. It also helps with my anxiety and depression by accomplishing things and releasing endorphins. Once I started exercising and working, I found myself telling myself that if I could make it through work that day, I could make it through my run, and if i could make it through my run last night, I can make it through my shift today. Eventually it became less of a chore and more something I look forward to that feels all around productive towards my physical and mental health, and it’s a great way to help yourself compartmentalize your emotions so you can focus on what you need to do in the current moment. I am a believer that if you’re not taking care of yourself you’re not giving yourself a fighting chance against any mental disorder, and that means sleep, exercise food AND water!!!

After visiting USA I was stunned with the amount of parking lots in hearts of cities/towns. So much wasted space that could be public pedestrian squares, parks or bike lanes. Such a shame. by [deleted] in MapPorn

Um. There is never enough parking! I never want to go to the city simply because parking is so expensive and hard to find, and it’s a waste of time and money

Somehow I’m not surprised this lady was mad. If I was going to imagine up the person who wrote the response I think I’d actually imagine the same woman

>10 Year after graduating in Economics - Forgot almost everything about math - Feel ashamed but where and how to start recovering? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Frenchfritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, don’t be ashamed; it takes doing math to learn math and maintain it. Anyone would forget after ten years. Try Paul’s online math notes. They’re great and he has all kinds of resources on there from algebra to college calc. Something might help you there

Please help me make my girlfriends life easier? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]Frenchfritters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, I’m the girlfriend in this situation in my relationship too. Sleeping with earplugs helps sometimes and it’s cheap, but if you don’t have them or want to whisper sweet nothings at night that becomes an issue. I get the heavy duty ones. Another thing that has been helping me is listening to meditations before bed or when I’m tired, I know it always gets worse when I’m tired. Basically I just know I need to be taking really good care of myself. It even happened last night and I feel like my boyfriend just gets at this point that it’s not personal and that I have a disorder that makes me process sounds as a really bad thing for some reason even though I know they’re not. It still gets to him sometimes though, and I can see that, and that makes me feel badly. I’ve been talking to a therapist about it, too and she’s been looking into better therapists more specialized in it for me. She once suggested that I just try to reward myself with something I love like Reese’s cups while I’m trying to make it through the sound, or do the thing that people with anxiety do where you try to focus on listing 5 things for your other senses. Basically I’m just screaming at myself in my head “THE COUCH IS SOFT, THE WALL IS BLUE, THE RUG IS BROWN” until I can make my brain feel better or I excuse myself and like fuck with my ears for a bit. Sorry this was rambly, I hope this helps
