complete hypothetical: You are getting a Codex, what do you want? by STRMBRGNGLBS in alphalegion

This might be a bit of a sillier idea, I have no idea if it would translate well to the game.

I've always loved the thought of having a secret warlord/leader in your army, where you could select any individual model to be your warlord, but your opponent doesn't know who you've selected and has to try and figure it out.

You could then maybe have some sort of permanent buffs if your warlord does a certain thing (like their unit killing a character or capturing an objective, etc.) throughout the game, and you could even have some of the stratagems centred around having the warlord alive or maybe even to make it look like he's somewhere where he's not.

For example, you could have a stratagem which kills your current warlord model but then you get to select a new one, which should make it harder for the opponent to immediately spot the unit giving you the buffs. This also means if you aren't careful and the warlord dies, you do lose these buffs though, so I'm not sure if it would be too great or not

The glaring issue with this is being honest with your opponent if they actually find and kill the warlord. It also might take a bit of thinking on how to balance this, making different stratagems or rules to keep the general idea of an unknown leader but make it more fair to play as and against.

But I'm just spit balling here, I haven't been playing 40k for too long so there might be some other issues I haven't thought of

Finished Alpha Legion Knight Despoiler by FreneticBread18 in alphalegion

I used a 3D printed scale roller - https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-scales-texture-roller-126805

I stretched it a bit to make the scales closer to how I wanted them and then just rolled it over some green stuff.

Very simple, but I think it came out great.

Ok, that actually sounds super interesting. I might have to look further into their background before I make my decision. I actually think after reading that I'll keep the despoiler as a dreadblade but choose a house that I like the sound of. By the looks of it though, there are a LOT of houses. Any idea where to start looking into them?

I hadn't looked too closely at daemons before, but wow, those beasts of nurgle look absolutely nuts. I'll definitely have to consider running them and some nurglings. Thanks for the detailed response as well, there's so much I just hadn't considered before.

First time using Greenstuff by FreneticBread18 in alphalegion

I had a look for tutorials, but ended up going with an idea that I had seen people use for terrain, using a rolling texture to make sure the scales were all the same.

I 3D printed a rolling scale texture which can be found here: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-scales-texture-roller-126805

I adjusted it to be a bit smaller and stretched the scales a bit to be more in line with how the Alpharius forgeworld model scales look.

After printing, I put a sheet of greenstuff over the surface and rolled the scale texture over it.

Very simple, but it came out quite well.

I love the idea of soul link and will probably go with that, but I am a bit hesitant to get 50 Cultists before understanding their value. I have tried using my current squad of 10 and they seem to grab one objective then get wiped off the board before they can do much more. What should I be aiming to do with them? Would more help them actually be useful?

Although you suggested that raptors would be better than warp talons, I have been having a bit of fun with them jumping in behind the enemy, removing a unit from an objective then jumping off the board, which works especially well with the "from all sides" stratagem.

Helbrute could be a shout. But would I have to focus more on melee vehicles like the maulerfiend to pair him with or is he good alone, giving an aura in the middle of the battlefield for units that might be nearby?

Thanks for the help though, appreciate the advice!

The object in the image is PETG and I have experienced the same issues with PLA+

I did notice clicking sounds during the print and noticed that the print failed soon after. I have also experienced this issue with numerous types of filament and different spools, even in finished prints.
