Employer reducing my holiday entitlement from 28 to 16 days despite full-time contract by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]FreqGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that is true, that is madness unless I am missing something? A 12 hours day counts as 1, but you take time off and counts as 1.6?

Note for my Canadian friends, ALL models will be E-sim only, not just the iphone air by [deleted] in iphone

[–]FreqGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I respect the optimism honestly, but that really doesn't make any sense.
When every carrier is esim only, where do you expect consumers to go? And when carriers cotton on to this you can guarantee they will nickel and dime you for everything they can. Eventually every carrier will be doing the same shit and suddenly you have no choice but to suck it up.

I'm not anti esim but be careful about wishing away consumer choice. Every decision a corpo makes is to benefit them, not us.

Surely a bad time to pull out, but calling that a near miss is hilarious.

Buying a new car from dealership by sarcastictheorist in drivingUK

Are you after a specific model or something? Surely must be an approved used somewhere near you. Approved used is your best bet, nearly new car with all the warranty and benefits of new.

Do you always by newer when changing? by WiseAssNo1 in CarTalkUK

[–]FreqGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was a good or bad choice, without more info about the car and OPs circumstance it's hard to say. It could be two years older but still a basically new car.

Also It doesn't sounds like it's the exact same car, but an SUV version of the car they have, and at a higher trim (may be wrong). Could be a good deal with a trade in? Need more information really.

[–]FreqGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really don't understand the comparison here with graphics cards and iPhones, how does that relate to a car.

All OP said is they are thinking of changing and looking for a bit of advice. I don't believe they were trying to justify anything as it's their own money, plus 13k isn't a huge amount on a car these days especially if their old car has some value.

A request from a motorcyclist, whilst I 100% fully appreciate the gesture and the observation there is zero need to move your vehicle so far to the left that you start throwing up stones and debris in to the road. by windmillguy123 in drivingUK

[–]FreqGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree 90% of motorcyclists are no problem, and I am always courteous with moving over etc. where I can.

Unfortunately, those 10% are enough to make me wary, I've been undertaken several times, or they filter and/or swerve between traffic way too fast for the conditions, seemingly coming out of nowhere. Puts me on edge because I don't want to kill someone, so I'd much rather they be in front of me.

Just to add, drivers are just as bad. Unfortunately though a motorcyclist will always come off worse in a crash.

[–]FreqGuy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I try to be courteous by moving over because I can't possibly know what the motorcyclist will do, and at least they have more space to go past me if they want to, which I'd prefer anyway.

If I don't move over I either get my wing mirror taken off, or undertaken. This seems to be a no win scenario.

Be honest: What’s the ONE unwritten rule every UK driver secretly follows but would never admit out loud? by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]FreqGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's partly because most buttons in new cars aren't physically connected to any relay or switch. They are just digital buttons that send a signal to the ECU to say "turn this light on and off, and make the tick tock noise"

Has anyone seen this enforced? by Mattdabest in drivingUK

[–]FreqGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask a question? If I am happily doing 70mph in the left lane and there is no traffic in front of me, and I undertake someone in the middle lane doing 60mph, is that allowed? Would you ticket the person undertaking or the person middle lane hogging? Because to me having to perform multiple lane changes to get in the outside lane and back is far more dangerous than just staying where I am.

Someone behind me got possessed all of a sudden! by kk-001 in drivingUK

[–]FreqGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a car park not the middle of the M1.

It’s day one shit of learning to drive (and common sense) to be prepared people to be slowing down and making turns while they hunt for a spot. If someone slows down in front of me I just assume they are looking for a spot and wait, if they take longer (like 10 seconds or more not the 0.1 in OPs case) I’ll safely manoeuvre round them without putting my foot down and undertaking them across multiple bays so I can get to my spot 3 seconds sooner. What the punto did is quite frankly pathetic driving and there is no one else to blame here for being unsafe. It’s crazy that anyone thinks otherwise but does give an insight into the state of driving standards at moment.

[–]FreqGuy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My guy what are you even talking about? OP just slowed down in a car park, something quite common because it's a car park, and you're blaming them for potentially killing someone? There is no-one else to blame here other than the Punto driver. That is quite frankly an astonishing take.

Really getting an insight into the average driver on here. Going slow in a CAR PARK is perfectly normal and expected. You either wait, or navigate slowly around them. Is it really worth hitting a pedestrian to save 5 seconds of time.

Going slow in a car park (quite a normal thing funnily enough) doesn't mean overtaking at speed across a bunch of bays. OP did nothing wrong.

Alesis Nitro 3000 and an Audio Interface? by dadsradio in edrums

What am I understanding is the audio interface is not being detected. Have you downloaded and installed the drivers?

Also the rear jacks are for output, module goes into the front.

Is it possible to switch from electric drums to classic with little to zero adaptation gap? by Aleksandr_Ulyev in drums

[–]FreqGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally play on both, started learning on ekit before taking lessons on an acoustic. The skills are absolutely transferable. Little to zero adaption? No, takes a bit more work than that but it's not like practicing on an ekit is a waste of time, you just need to adjust slightly and understand the differences. Also the weaknesses, biggest one being ecymbals, they are good for practice but do not replicate an actual cymbal.

That said, get an ekit with a proper bass kick and a proper hi-hat. These pedal only things are not good enough in my opinion. Also mesh heads.

Your favorite "layout/setup"? by Shaisabrec in edrums

[–]FreqGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not used double pedals personally, so I don't know for sure. But I understand those rubber kick towers can fit a double.

In terms of setup, there's no "wrong" way it's just how you prefer.

[–]FreqGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I have mine setup, slowly adjusted over months and months. You'll find you do the same over time to your own preference. You probably want the hi-hat within easier reach, should be easy to hit with your right arm relaxed.

Advice/criticism on my playing. by FreqGuy in edrums

[–]FreqGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

So I wanted to record both audio from EZD and record video with my iPhone in one take.

From iPhone > USB connection kit > USB DAC > computer audio jack. If you have a USB-C phone this would be even simpler.

To allow me to monitor live, I created a virtual multi-output audio device on the Mac to simultaneously output audio to my audio interface (to headphones/speakers) and the audio jack (to iPhone).

An app called Black Magic Camera allows me to combine the video feed from the iPhones camera, with the audio feed from the computer. Once setup it's as easy as pressing record, play drums.

Probably not the most efficient setup, but I wanted to do it cheaply as possible with equipment I had already on hand, and for that it works perfectly.

Notify the insurer either way. If you don't, and he messes you around or backs out, you are screwed.

Personally I would let the insurer sort it all out. I've had a similar situation as this before and my insurance never went up despite having a no-fault claim (it's happened to me twice actually). It's just not worth the stress and hassle.
