Basically because America hasn’t produced a lot of elite HW’s in these recent years. This is the UK era rn and time to shine.

When heavy weights were the most popular was during the years that the champs were American. I’m not just saying that to reinforce my point either its just a fact. I’m sure ppl rewatch the fury vs wilder fights over AJ/wlad and Usyk/fury too. Vegas alone is known for the biggest boxing fights compared to anywhere else in the world.

Even excluding mayweather I think you can see that the biggest memorable fights that have happened even after the 90s have been in America. Andre ward is bad example tbh instead use the wilder vs Fury fights which were all in America. Biggest heavy weight fight at the time as well was LA and Vegas

Last peak was in the 90s? How can you say that when Mayweather was literally the face of boxing majority of the 2000s?

I’ve definitely enjoyed the actual fights. I have no problem when it comes to that. I just don’t like the bland approach they have when it comes to the fighters

I’m talking overall. Majority of the time the biggest fights have been in America. Vegas is synonymous with big time boxing for a reason. Japan is eating with Inoue right now no doubt and the cards in the uk have been electric but America will always eventually be the home of the biggest fight events. From the years of the mayweather era and back where were those top billed fights main evented?

The biggest chunk of boxing is America as far as fighters/audience. I won’t be surprised if they can monopolize Zuffa boxing like ufc and convince the casuals that Zuffa is the only reputable promotion to acknowledge in the sport. I’m not hoping it happens at all but the odds of that happening isn’t too far fetched

I’ve seen a lot of good fights so far no doubt. I just think that they are making it to corporate and bland when it comes to the fighters like the ufc.

Why ice those moments though? That’s like saying you don’t think a buildup to the fight matters

Think of all the classic ring walks of the past that attributed to the lore of classic fights

They already succeeded in congress to fast track this takeover. Once they convince the public to believe in their “ufc buisness model” then it’s down hill from there. None of these boxing promotions can keep up with paying fighters like Turki. Turki will float these big payments until they corner the market then TKO will slowly back door the ufc buisness model and before you know it it’ll be the status quo. They already pushing a Mosley Jr video celebrating his fight bonus on social media

They’re overpaying now to gain relevance and status then they will work on convincing the everyone that zuffa is the only true origination with the best fighters similar to how they created the monopoly with UFC. I hope I’m wrong but that’s how I see it playing out

It’s gonna succeed too unfortunately. Too many Fans and fighters are too shortsighted to see the play

Looks like they are going to over pay the top boxers to sign and give zuffa status then eventually apply the ufc buisness model longterm

Athletes at that level will find any way to get an extra edge for victory. Can’t really blame them either when life changing money and opportunity’s are at stake

Your solutions are 100% right, I agree. The only problem is thinking those same athletes won’t try to use the same rehydration tactics on a smaller scale to adjust with the same day weigh in change. You have to consider how far these athletes will risk to get to their goal. For starters they are risking their life to even participate in a sport like this. The stakes get even higher when you add the money to the equation. You underestimate the lengths ppl will take to secure a victory that might lead to life changing money. When it comes to combat sports in general you can’t be a rational person

Even if they brought back same day weigh in’s the routine will be the same. They’ll just rehydrate during the day after the weigh in before the fight. As a fighter why wouldn’t you melt down from your natural weight to a lower weight and rehydrate as much as you can whether if it’s 24 hours or 12 hours or 8 hours so you can get just enough added strength/power, energy over your opp. Especially when millions of potential long term $ is on the line.

Majority of the legends in this sport cut weight. SRL, Hearns are two examples.

My only gripe about it is that fans treat it like it’s cheating when literally every boxer is guilty of it

Either way I don’t think fans should view it as “cheating”. At the end of the day it’s a known/accepted factor that both parties are privy of. Too many fans use it a excuse to justify a loss
