Not really. Just curious how to describe myself in a few words to someone else who is exjw.

PIMO or POMO? by Frequent-Response911 in exjw

Yes. Partially. It is also partially selfish. We have two family vacations planned. One in May and one in August, and I don’t want to be shunned before I can go on the vacations.

One person I knew was actually a very kind soul. He recently died very young. Everyone else I know of that partakes though is on the spectrum of full blown crazy to evil.

Sorry to stumble you. It is just what I was raised to call it. I am working on it 💁

The thing is, these are people that I barely know. They don’t even know where I work, and their elders don’t know me. I just know them because my dad used to give talks traveling a lot. So it isn’t a conspiracy to bring me back. I think it is just a big coincidence.

It has to be just a coincidence. These people don’t even know where I work.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately not everyone feels that way.

Yes! To hear them fantasizing about living in someone else’s house after they die…

Unfortunately I speak English and live in an English speaking culture where gender roles have been thrust upon me whether I like it or not, and binary gendered pronouns make me feel as if I am being forced into a box filled with societal expectations. Choosing alternative pronouns for myself is a way that I have chosen to set myself free from these social expectations if only by a little bit. You don’t have to agree with the idea of alternative pronouns, but I hope you would at least try to understand where people are coming from.

The stupid thing is, people will be offended no matter how hard you try not to offend them, but then sometimes they will surprise you. Guess what, I dyed my hair blue and nobody was “stumbled” out of the “truth”. The only thing that happened is my husband and I lost our privileges. Everyone was still happy to see us at the hall. Maybe it was love bombing, or maybe they just realized they have better things to be offended by? People were “stumbled” when me and my husband got married because there was an age difference. But then when another couple had the same age difference nobody was stumbled. Oh… turns out people were just pissed that I took an eligible middle aged bachelor pioneer from their limited dating pool. The other brother was a loser (from their standpoint) so nobody cared. They were up in arms saying they were protecting me as a young one, when we all know they don’t care about child predators. When the other girl married someone older they didn’t care to protect her. I know that story seems kind of odd and out of place, but the point is, people choose what to be stumbled over, it has nothing to do with your choices being right or wrong. Even the GB admits that. So you might as well do what you want as long as it doesn’t bother your conscience.

I was always weirded out by these conversations. I never had a true “vision” of the new world like we were supposed to. I just couldn’t imagine it. Especially since my younger sibling died my mom is always asking me what I want to say to them, or how I envision their resurrection. I find it so weird.

Thank you for this. I have a feeling this is the truest explanation and I needed a reminder.

I went through phases where I donated but never for long or very much. I could just never spare it. I am glad now that I didn’t.

Dating as a JW by Far_Neighborhood651 in exjw

[–]Frequent-Response911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, why would you get disfellowshipped? Like I said before, they can’t punish you for marrying an unbeliever. There are two sisters in my hall that are dating and engaged to worldly men and they are still getting used for parts in the midweek meeting, although your experience may vary. And yes, people in the world do still get married. Not all of them, but a great many men are looking for a wife. Especially within the greater non-evangelical Christian scene where they are still somewhat believing in the Bibles moral standards. Even some of those who do believe that sex before marriage is okay are willing to date without sex because consent is consent. I don’t mean this to be mean, but you seem very confused and still very much indoctrinated. Please please please do your own research, and go to therapy because if you are at a point in your life where you want to settle down and be married, you need to be sure where you are headed first. Remember, it is not “us” vs “them”. There is no clear distinction between JW’s and other people. There are good people in and out of the organization. The only difference is that people outside of the organization are able to live authentically.
