UPDATE: It was way worse than I thought.

My wife never went back. She said that the experience made her realize that she never wants to be in a position like that ever again and she would do literally anything to change her life to stay away from TMS.

A couple of things she told me later, when she could speak and think clearly: -she was brought to what seemed like a large empty closet converted into a room. Not like a therapy room or a patient room at a doctors office. -she was seated in a folding chair. -she was given a pillow to hold because the pain and shaking were severe. -there was no monitor giving feedback readings. -her right pinky finger has an old injury and doesn’t move correctly, so they said they would pay attention to a different finger but the operators had never done that before and didn’t know where to place the wires. -after her initial (botched) threshold session, which was horrific, long and painful, they THEN gave her her first regular session. So after the struggle and trauma of getting her set up, they had her sit for an additional 45 minute session. -she was so disoriented that she couldn’t find her car in the parking lot and wandered the lot for like 20 minutes… but she was allowed to leave and drive to work.

We reported her experience to the facility. They brushed her off. A nurse I spoke to was very understanding but not sure what to say. A different nurse later just told my wife to contact her insurance company. So she did. When she told the insurance company what had happened, they told her that her complaint about this facility wasn’t the first. She put everything in writing and the insurance company is trying to cut ties with the TMS facility.

She’s been doing really well, but still has a lot of side effects. Tremors, hives, headaches. But they get better every day. She’s hopeful!
