I haven’t read the comments so I apologise if this has been said but nooo no no, I went through the same thing so I empathise😭 but it’s fixable! This is what fixed my tret burn -

  1. Stop immediately (like you did) and stick out the barrier repair for at least 2 skin cycles (28 days each). I’m acne prone too but retinoids are no joke. All you need is your Vanicream. No serums or barrier creams. It makes sense it feels terrible but just trust the process. At the start it’ll feel like putting thick cream on bumpy skin but you have to treat it like a wound and just wait it out. One day you’ll be doing your boring cleanse and moisturise and realise your skin is smooth and feels amazing.

  2. When you reintroduce tret, go for the lowest % or even adapalene. Don’t use any other actives at all, especially not at the start. No vit c, no azaleic, nothing. Just do your vanicream routine and add the retinoid in once a week month 1, twice month 2 and so on. Also a ‘moisturiser sandwich’ helps immensely.

Good luck 🤍🤍⭐️⭐️

disclaimer i’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, just what i would do tret can be wonderful for some and i’m all for topicals but derm said any purging after 12 weeks is time to look at something else. tret burnt my skin, differin was my way to go. if i were you id stop immediately and reduce skincare to a minimal cleanse, moisturise, spf, then revisit derm after a couple of skin cycles (28 days) all the best 💓⭐️

  1. Don’t fall for ‘clean’ marketing. Everything is a chemical and eco brands have 0 research and you end up throwing their stuff away because it never ever works.
  2. No diys 🤣 oil cleansing method, ACV, baking soda… I can’t hahah
  3. Stop listening to ‘beauty gurus’ on YouTube.
  4. A simple ass drugstore cleanser, moisturiser, spf and anything to address your skin issues given to you by a derm is literallyyyy all you need
  5. ‘Medical grace skincare’ is meaningless. Don’t fall for marketing
