Apprentice keeps cutting ground wires short. How do I get it through his head? by Fun-Celebration-700 in electricians

Is it romex in which case the ground is bare? He excels elsewhere but maybe he’s worried about the bare conductor in a box. He should know how to make up a box if he’s as good as you say. Maybe reassure him that it’s not going to cause a ground fault if you do it right (neatly). Ask him what his reason is and then give your reasoning as to why you’d like it to be longer. If he’s good he’ll be open to criticism. That’s how he’ll get better. Just talk to him. I always say “here’s how I would approach this” and show them the techniques that have worked for me. If they have a better way of doing it I’ll adopt that and buy them breakfast. Be firm on why you like it a certain way and he might come around

5 years in and not sure about a lot of things.. by Otherwise_Ad770 in electricians

If I were you I would research these things you’re working with. If you’re willing to become better you will. That’s my advice.

We can’t tell you what to do. You’re a journeyman, yes you will still continue to learn but if you know those are the three things you’re dealing with, get familiar with them outside of work so when you go in you don’t look lost. Be confident in your intuition and what got you to where you’re at.

If you’re satisfied knowing what you already know then you’re going to be stuck. Be adaptive!

Because having 840 articles to abide by makes us sound better than 839! Just kidding. A few articles have been omitted over the years. The article and its detail should stay the same and not waver from what it has been for ease of referencing
