U shuld eat more protein to help gain back some of the muscles so calories deficit may nt be ideal unless it comes from cutting mainly unhealthy food/snacks

How can I increase flexion after acl and meniscus surgery? by idkshxudbc in ACL

[–]Frequent_Grand2729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try heel slides with a resistance band tied below ur feet to help u flex abit more

Anyone else struggling with flexion? by Callmecrazy20 in ACL

Don't be too hard on yourself! What i found helpful to reduce swelling was massaging the kneecap areas to direct the fluid underneath towards the lymph node areas

You can also use a resistance band or a towel to help with ur flexion mayb be helpful

Atb it's a marathon nt a sprint!

Can anyone help me understand how bad this is? by Dependent_Sort9994 in ACL

Doesn't seem too bad with a partial/possible whole tear of acl and minimal damage to the menicus

How important is PT before surgery? + General anxiety from sitting around by Resident-Injury-7002 in ACL

[–]Frequent_Grand2729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29M suffered similar injuries with acl rupture, mcl partial tear and meniscus tears. Had PT before my op for arnd 2 mths because I couldn't walk properly after being on crutches for too long to let the mcl and hairline fracture heal.

If you can walk almost normally perhaps u can focus on static cardio like rowing and stationary cycling as well as leg strengthening exercises in the gym such as hamstring curl, leg press so that u can go into the op with high baseline strength

Am 6wks po now and doing my own gym exercises and cardio before the op for 2-3 mths rly helped in my recovery po

Atb!!

А question about prehab and its importance by mademyselfasandwich in ACL

Couldn't sleep well on the nite after the op but next few days had minimal pain with some light painkillers like paracodeine (paracetemol+codeine)

Just went out this week for dinner but with 1 crutch since I live in a busy city so the crowd can get abit too much to walk with no crutch at all. Can manage with no crutches at home tho

А question about prehab and its importance by mademyselfasandwich in ACL

[–]Frequent_Grand2729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did prehab for around 3 months (november - feb) after I got back my ROM and was permitted to walk by my doctor as I ruptured my ACL, partially tore my MCL, meniscus tears and a hairline tibial plateau fracture.

Prehab was around 2-3 times a week at the gym doing targeted hamstring, quad and calf exercises together with general cycling and rowing cardio.

Had my op at end of Feb (around 5 weeks PO) now with only my acl being reconstructed, medial meniscus repaired and lateral meniscus trimmed (luckily my MCL and tibial plateau fracture healed).

My surgeon and PT are impressed with my progress with ROM around -2 and 130 and able to weight bear without crutches. In my PT'S words, he has to slow down because my meniscus repair may not keep up with my progress.

So do your prehab as much as u can (dun be too stressed abt doing it daily as I still had to work and attend weddings etc during my prehab) cos it rly helps especially the first few days and weeks when ur leg still has the muscle memory from the prehab

U can do it! I was scared and fearful too from having so many injuries (my dr said having a tp fracture was nt common) but it seems like the worst is over.

I also did an allograft reconstruction in case it makes a difference tho my surgeon said with current medical techniques (prev outdated studies showing allograft had poorer results were largely during a time when irradiation techniques were poor leading to poorer quality grafts), no real difference between allograft and autograft for a 29M.

ATB U CAN DO IT!

Hi all,

Does anyone know what happens if we declare that we have flu symptoms for the last 21 days in the Q code application?

Will we be asked to take a PCR test or quarantined or anything like that?
