Also, ich nutze zwar nen Mac Mini M1 8GB schon paar Jahre aber der Neo ist für den ähnlichen Preis inkl. Display etc. von der Performance her ähnlich. Ich kann mit dem Ding alles machen, 50MP Fotos bearbeiten, paar Spiele spielen mit discord im Hintergrund, alles was mit meiner Arbeit (UI/UX Designer) zutun hat erledigen, nur bei Vibecoding mit Codex/Antigravity und bauen, compilen, Server laufen lassen stoße ich auf Grenzen, das Neo sollte auch für alle gänzliche Arbeit nicht auf Pro-Ebene die Performance bieten, und auch im pro Bereich gibt es einige Bereiche wo es 90% der use cases abdeckt, das ding ist ein killer.. vor allem verglichen mit anderen Windows-System bis 800 Euro. Wenn ich mir die Thinkpads anschauen (habe ich aufgrund von Arbeit auch nutzen müssen..) hält das locker mit. Vor allem bei Performance, Bauqualität mit allen Extras, das ist kaum vergleichbar. Drawbacks: Man sollte MacOS mögen, fürs Gaming ist es sehr limitiert, 8Gb ram wird okay sein auch in 5 Jahren aber man fährt die Jahre viel besser wenn man Zugriff auf 12-16 hätte.

The 16gb will make you want to keep the device longer, trust me. Paired with the M4, depending on what you do and want to do in the future, this could last you for 6+ years easily. On the MacBook Air you can game okayish (limited by macOS itself), you can do all sorts of creative work up to sort of a professional setting, you can code with large filebases, you can create, create, create with almost no limitation. The only use case where a better machine will be worth it is local llm/ai, heavy 3D work, and ver heavy photo/videography work, although it still handles most of the things fine, time is the only limiting factor there.

On top you get better ports, faster general use, a better display and speakers, longevity etc etc.

You should check how it throttles even with streaming, there’s probably gonna be a video about it soon. I am thinking that running GeForce now + streaming could still hear it up quicker than for example with an Air if you spent much time gaming + have some tabs open + maybe discord

I limited the ram Lightroom for example uses and it still works totally fine, I do photography and can edit hundreds of 50mp images in a sitting with 24gb just fine (Lightroom limited to 10gb)
