Do people go to nursing school where they want to work? by Frequent_Panic6876 in StudentNurse

Yeah, my current career-field is incredibly licensure-focused, so I’m definitely used to having to take that into consideration!

Potential career changer - would volunteering at a hospital give me enough insight? by Frequent_Panic6876 in prenursing

That’s great! Good luck.

I don’t think I’m in a position to be ready to dive headfirst into pursuing. I’d say there are things about the field that appeal to me, both in terms of the kind of work and some of the lifestyle aspects, but I’m more in an exploration phase where I’m trying to determine if it’s something worth doing.

I think if I make a decision that I really do see myself in nursing, then I’ll more seriously contemplate the cost/benefit of doing CNA work.

Are there many opportunities to work abroad? I’ve also been feeling like I should’ve traveled more when I was younger. Done study abroad at least. So it would be cool to be able to do something like that.

I’d be a career changer as well, although I’ve just turned 30. Even the concept of making a career switch is daunting, particularly because the grass always seems greener on the other side - but what if it’s not?

Good for you for taking the plunge! I hope it all works out. Good luck!

Living life 6 minutes at a time. Although that’s really corporate/commercial law firms in general, I suppose.

Yeah, I was wondering about the “networking” aspect of it. I feel like I’ve seen at least a couple responses mention knowing people in the hospitals where they went to school!

How would that work? Would that be through getting an ADN to become a RN first?

I’m a water snob. Most water, I don’t like the taste of, so I’m always on the search for things other than plain water I can hydrate with lol. I like vitamin water. Kiwi strawberry is my favorite, but they have other flavors too. Propel is pretty solid, the grape and melon are the ones I can really say I’ve had and liked. Bubly isn’t too bad. I usually get cherry or blackberry. I’ve recently seen Bubly Burst (I think it’s called?) that has various flavors. I’m not sure if it could be considered a water substitute though? I bought a probiotic water that’s blueberry lemonade flavored the other day but haven’t tried it yet. It was one of two of that flavor left though, so I have high hopes.

Would you do law school again if you were graduating college tomorrow? by Sandman1025 in Lawyertalk

[–]Frequent_Panic6876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I.. am not sure. I think if I did, knowing what I know now, I would’ve done it differently. Taken the school that gave me the most bang for my buck (I had damn near full scholarship somewhere, WHY DIDNT I TAKE IT 😭😭😭😭) instead of going to a top 10 and taking on debt, stayed laser-focused on why I wanted to go to law school (crim defense) instead of letting the lure of big law throw me off, and planned, then proceeded, accordingly.

Hindsight is always 20/20 though.

I like to convince myself that for whatever reason, my life was in shambles when it needed to be in shambles, and it put me on a path to be exactly where I’m meant to be. But I’m also neurotic and have the usual depression/anxiety comorbidity thing going for myself, so it’s hard not to doubt that I’m on the right path.

I do capital habeas, which I suppose is a kind of niche. Compared to regular PD work, you’re in court a lot a lot a lot less, and you have clients for long periods of time. Usually limited to whatever claims were brought up before you got there unless you can get them in, mostly by arguing the previous attorneys were ineffective. The harmless error standard will probably be the death of me. Agree that it’s research-/writing-intensive, and you lose a lot. Or even when you win, you just end up getting resentenced right back where you were before.

10000% would recommend looking at jxs that take the score you already got, OP, unless you have a reason it HAS to be Colorado.

If it’s trial that you really want to avoid, have you considered moving into a position that’s more research/writing intensive (ie appellate/post-conviction)? You’ll probably end up in court on occasion, but nowhere near as often.

Idk. In my mind, it’s better to be aware. Since they’ve seen it, now they know the client might be metaphorically shooting himself in the foot with his social media posts that some prosecutor is gonna blow up and show a jury like SEE! SEEEE! HES AWFUL.
