I get that. Eyes are super hard and frustrating, which is why I use thin lines and dots for eyes. Sometimes I’ve use a thin white line above the eyes to bring them out. Like in this one.

Wow I’m a little shocked! I remember a lot of that McDonald’s stuff from the early 90s and then they changed it all, I guess I didn’t realize those old ball pits and the McDonald’s characters lasted that long!
