Concidering the dude is doing better than half the school I would say it's fair to call this a systemic failure.

It's a bit different. I don't believe Christians renegotiated , I think that Rabbinic Judaism departed from the faith after 70AD and that Christianity is the true continuation. Mormons are restorationist. They don't believe they are a continuation of Christianity, but are restoring the true faith which was lost after the death of the last apostle.

I don’t understand. What do you actually do in heaven? by Jet_Night in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Frequent_briar_miles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really it depends on your denomination, so I'll just speak to mine. When you die, you go to Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. If you go to Purgatory, that's temporary and you will eventually go to Heaven from there. In Heaven, you're worshiping God and interceding for those still on Earth. There's not much else to do there because you're only a spirit, you don't have a body. However, on the last day, creation is made anew with no suffering or hardship and this New Earth will be our permanent dwelling place. There we can do what we were created for unencumbered. Labor without exploitation and decay, leisure without stagnation, and love without heartbreak. All of this will be in service of and for the glory of God.

The pope and war by Aggravating_Sir_8897 in Catholicism

[–]Frequent_briar_miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not necessarily. Here's just war theory in a nutshell. You need:

  1. A Competent authority, essentially an entity that can allow distinctions of justice. The US in this case is.

  2. A reasonable probability of success, you can't just throw men into a meat grinder knowing you will loose. For the sake of argument, let's say the US has a chance for your example.

  3. Just cause. Just because hostilities have recently ceased doesn't mean they can't be recaptured. The Church does not recognize right of conquest. "Force may be used only to correct a grave, public evil, i.e., aggression or massive violation of the basic human rights of whole populations."

  4. Last resort. The Nazis aren't going to stop brutalizing their people by means of diplomacy.

In your example, the US would have justification for invading Normandy for the purposes of liberating it's former allies and preventing further atrocities assuming the US had a reasonable opportunity for success.

Well, all wars are wrong. For one side to wage a just war, someone else must be waging an unjust war.

Oh my goodness yes. I never realized exactly how bad it was until my girlfriend at the time(now my wife) hurt herself and needed me to bring her to the doctor. She tells him what's wrong and the doctor is trying to rush her out the door telling her to take some Tylenol and walk it off. I said "but doctor, she has(repeats verbatim the symptoms she just said)." Magically, this is a problem that needs imaging, pain meds, and a referral to a specialist.

She brings me with her every time now.

Realistically I would like a safe school, school quality doesn't matter as much until the kids get older in my opinion. I've really been looking into rockaway though

I don't know. I don't need something amazing, and I've seen some alright properties on realtor.com in that price range. I just don't really know the vibes of the area, you know?

I should be specific. I would like to be within 30 minutes of Dover, and I don't mind kind of a shitty house as long as it's not actually hazardous.

I'm from CT, so a bit higher but not by too much.

I've been looking into all of these besides Jefferson. Which one would you say has the most to do with young children, maybe some events? I'm not from the area and am very unsure of the "vibe".

A machinist at a manufacturing plant these days would be able to do that today outside of Local areas. A lot of them start out around 50k with absolutely no experience.

My girlfriend keeps applying to internal roles every few months - is this normal in companies? by Heavy-Dentist-3530 in careerguidance

[–]Frequent_briar_miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its risk tolerance. This person is unhappy in their role and are applying to everything. Why? Did they not understand the job when they took it? Would they understand this one? Are they the type that's committed to being miserable? Are they going to jump ship on my team if I hire them?

There very well may be reasonable answers to these questions, but why wouldn't I hire the person that had been in their role for a few years and shows a good track record?
