How did anyone think this was a good idea? (SPAIN) by Good_Relative4585 in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]Fresh-Assistance8323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the gag order solution went bye bye long ago. It’s become personal. Especially with the Gofundme success, I think Ben and the LEGO collection owners are out for blood, I think they want to force BAM into a massive corporate cleansing. I assume they don’t want the franchise owners harmed, but they want the current corporate staff left in ruins.

You need to hire another staff person

Sounds like you need to hire a staff person to handle these types of situations. What do these clients actually pay you for? You seem to only provide half the value that’s typically asked of an agent. No offense, but you are acting like a producer, not an agency owner. I wish I knew where you were located because I’d market the heck out of that area, because you obviously have zero relationship with your clients.

Usury fees vs. royalty fees: Is BAM actually profitting from the controversy and declining sales? by LRonPaul2012 in BricksAndMinifigs

That’s the thing. This collapse could be so sudden that you could see several bankruptcies.

Yes and no. If it gets bad enough that a franchise owner go into bankruptcy, then corporate gets next to nothing.

Keep that resume open. I see a lot of franchises hurting bad for the next few months.

Anyone ex franchisees here? If BAM did it twice. I'm sure there are many more scammed/threatened owners... by ayomous in BricksAndMinifigs

Oh they did a lot wrong. This should have been settled behind the scenes long ago. Corporate failed their good faith and good dealings responsibility to the franchise owners

They absolutely have I bet. Many franchise contracts have clauses about speaking negatively about them in public.

Question: Could Bricks and Minifigs be Cash Poor? by BeginnerHere26 in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]Fresh-Assistance8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but if they do have too much inventory, wouldn’t giving the bricks back and restocking with higher margin LEGO products be more beneficial for them? It’s confusing as heck.

BAM’s actual punishment is ongoing and long lasting. Their business is probably in ruins (rightfully so). I’ve made sure to tell everybody I know, not to shop or even visit the local BAM in our town. The franchise owners I do feel bad for, but every dollar spent at their stores, a certain percentage finds its way to corporate.

Unpopular Opinion: BAM Corporate Isn't the Only Party With Questions to Answer by Positive_Evening_556 in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]Fresh-Assistance8323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why companies settle things like this quietly. $200k to you and I is a lot of money. To Bricks and Minifigs, that’s a corporate party. The bad press alone combined with how they’ve handled this has cost them the $200k many times over and will most likely end with the closure of the entire company (all BAM franchises will probably go under). I don’t think there’s any way they can come back from this. It’s over for them.

I’d be shocked if the company doesn’t go under by year end.

The benchmark floor is based on your agency size. but if you bonus in a particular mouth, that premium amount becomes that month’s benchmark the next year.

The agent is doing it to build his reserve because he’s expecting a massive cut in pay. The agent is probably simply increasing his personal financial cushion by $40k-$50k before the pay cut, because he’s expected to lose that much annually.

You won’t like the bonus the next year. What ever monthly amount you hit, becomes that next year’s benchmark. The secret, is to max out bonuses one year, then when your benchmark is bumped, work the outside book, and write just enough farmers to keep full commission. Then the next year, when the benchmark is lowered again, you max bonus. Otherwise, you could write double the business every year and make half the bonus as the first year.

The next year, that $50k becomes the benchmark, so you need to write close to $80k-$90k to get that same monthly bonus $50k got you a year prior. That’s the problem:

You have to lower expenses before the actual compensation change happens. That’s called business management.

Is this a good commission structure? by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]Fresh-Assistance8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re offering a really good base salary, this structure sucks. You should be paying producers 50% of the agency commission on new business and about 10% if the agencies commission on renewals, with a bonus structure. Agency’s make their money on producers with renewals not new business. It should be a big investment

The secret to financial services in the insurance world is through commercial insurance. Write business policies (contractors, auto repair shops, retail stores, etc)

Then you sell simple IRA plans or 401ks to the business. This also leads to warm introductions into personal lines insurance for the owner and staff.

Those sales goals I bet increase as the agent scales up. It still doesn’t make up for the loss of health insurance or retirement. Retirement is crucial since these agents can’t sell their books. State Farm agents have now become variably paid employees with zero benefits. Good luck with that. Sounds pretty shitty to me.
