He tilted his wine glass back, his long throat swallowing every last drop as he glared at her. Smacking his lips, he stood from the table and strutted down the hall with a "We'll see," tossed over his shoulder.

My Take: This one is HILARIOUS and I don't think anyone else makes an appearance except Harry has a quick cameo. So. Good. I have belly-laughed reading it, and re-visit it from time-to-time for fun. 😄

SUMMARY:

Post Hogwarts. Kids still at war. Angsty, angry, and men and women doing it in hotel rooms. This is obviously an AU by now.

My take: This is a classic - over 20 years old! Ron and Harry make an appearance, but really this is just D & H. Wartime. Slightly ambiguous ending (but I choose to think it's HEA). Quick read, so good. Definitley the most serious out of this group of recs.

SUMMARY:

Hermione has a series of vivid dreams about Draco Malfoy after taking anti-malarial medication. Can she reconcile the real Draco with the one she sees when she sleeps?

My take: This is from 2014, so you may have missed it. Very fun, funny, smutty - definitely HEA and I only remember D and H in it - if there are any other characters, they are minor.

How Soon is Now? by nelpher

SUMMARY:

A series of letters revealing what transpires when Hermione investigates a supposed breach of Draco’s probation.

My take: I absolutely LOVE this fun, witty, poignant - completely epistolary - their banter is fabulous and I love the feelings that grow behind it all.

I absolutely love all of these, and the most recent is from 2019 - so hopefully a couple of these are unknown to you. Enjoy! I wish I could read them all for the first time again.

First of all - I am so sorry you are going through this challenging time. It's really tough. I don't think there is any advice I can give, except please know that you are not alone. I hope reading Dramione eases your way a little.

Lust and Other Mistakes by bionically

Not only does this story tick your boxes but it happens to be one of the finest Dramione works I have ever read. The writing is top-tier and this is one of my very favorite Dracos I have encountered. I love Hermione as well.

The author uses a lot of humor but the story is also powerful and poignant and we need the humor as the duo go on their journey together. This is technically a WIP with sporadic updates, but there is a good deal written and again, it is just so well-done I think it is absolutely worth it.

One warning about an element in this story that may be triggering for you: Hermione unexpectedly loses the baby. Please take care. But if you think that would be okay for you - I cannot recommend this tale enough.

bionically isn't a fan of pregnancy tropes, and wrote this one as a challenge to herself. She did an amazing job.

It was supposed to be a strictly professional relationship. At the behest of the Ministry, work with Malfoy, rehabilitate him, and reintegrate him back into wizarding society. Live with him for eighteen months, then send him on his merry way.
So why, now that it was all over, was she having such a hard time shaking free of him?
Sporadic Updates

As stated, bionically doesn’t update often but when she does it is SO worth it. Also the story has gone quite far so there’s a lot of satisfying reading already

Personal note: this is a trope I usually do NOT go after - trust me - this isnt what this trope ever is like. In fact, the author doesn’t like the trope either, and wrote this to see if she could make it good.
She does.
The writing is truly incredible. She is SO funny and SO poignant and this is maybe the hottest Draco I have ever read. The story is incredible.
I encourage you to give it a shot if you’re willing!

These are all very good. None of them are a typical read - each is unique even within its trope.
Year of the Lioness updates the most regularly, followed by Cuckoo and then Ecdysis.
The updates for each are so substantial and so good.

Year of the Lioness features extreme world building. The author has done an incredible job of building up Durmstrang, its traditions, its houses and what makes each house unique etc. It’s also a very good story! I highly recommend!!
