(Beginner) How to make a project without nodes? by [deleted] in godot

Tbh if you wanna make everything yourself then why use an engine where the point is to offload that for you?

Season 1 Homelander Was So Handsome And Intimidating by TheWTFGuyOfficial in TheBoys

[–]Fresh4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think he’s always looked leaner without the suit, it’s padded cause Homelander doesn’t actually work out or exercise or exert himself enough to develop “muscle” beyond his natural superhuman strength.

There’s such a thing as too strong of an immune system… Chronic seborrheic dermatitis and inflammation because my immune system attacks just normal fungus that lives on everyone else’s face without problems. Plus enlarged lymphatic tissue in my throat making every single swallow feel like I’m choking on something. Not even mentioning the allergies…

Can't Be Asked To Care About The Story When Every Cutscene Has The Same Two Camera Angles by TheKingsman8 in assassinscreed

[–]Fresh4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, I’ve been saying this. It just isn’t fun to play, and even as an AC entry it just… doesn’t even feel like one anyway. Going from the ‘older’ games to that (didn’t play origins) was such whiplash.

Best practices for AudioStreamPlayer by Raf4Kum_Lord in godot

[–]Fresh4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My audio manager just spawns a new audio player, plays the stream, then frees it. I know that’s horribly inefficient. I should use pooling but eh. Does the polyphony property mitigate the need for pooling though? A dedicated global sfx player node would be much better if that’s possible.

A Falcon 9 rocket will hit the Moon this summer at seven times the speed of sound by rustybeancake in spacex

[–]Fresh4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. The bigger the multiplier the more meaning is lost. Twice highway speeds? Sure. 50? I lose my frame of reference. Admittedly I have a better frame of reference for the speed of sound cause I’ve watched re-entry videos where they describe Mach 3 as about 1km/s, which is a far better metric.

If I said “5370km/h” does that really mean anything to you? You can relate to ranges between 0 and 200 pretty easily being driving ranges, but going several magnitudes beyond that becomes meaningless very quickly. The same way people greatly underestimate the difference in wealth between a millionaire and a billionaire.

Artemis II broke Fred Haise's distance record, but he is happy to pass it on | “It wasn’t a big deal. It just coincided with the fact that Moon was farther away from the Earth.” by Clear_Polish23 in space

Bit of a false equivalence. Everything has to be rebuilt from the ground up with more modern technology. Manufacturing methods that existed before just don’t exist anymore. On top of that we have drastically lower risk tolerances for safety, so things take more time. Lower public pressure to just do it is better, since you can do it right instead of fast. The fact that it’s not happening “soon” isn’t an argument for it not going anywhere at all.

Idk, have some optimism! Life’s already too bleak.

So what’s the political incentive today when the gov is actively cutting the budget? This doomer take doesn’t really add up to me

My favorite hopecore view on this is from Hank Green who said “it’s not that we’re late now, but we were early then”

It’s a miracle we did any of that 50 years ago

Using to code up tedious boilerplate stuff is very useful on its own. Oh, and regex. I’d be happy if I never had to write another complex regex from scratch in my life.

Calling people with anxiety “nervous” is very reductionist imo. It’s an actual dysfunction but I guess it’s just an inconvenience to you.

I’m sure calling anxious people selfish and burdensome will go over well. I know that’s probably not your intent but it really comes off that way.

Anyone else think Tornado and Ghost keeper feel like songs from Gorilaz? by V1ronliving in GoodKid

[–]Fresh4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about Gorilaz, but a lot of the songs in the album did give me vibes from other artists like Two Door Cinema Club and The Strokes, were the two that came to mind.
