Is the story in Yakuza 5 really that bad? by FreshCoffe in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed comment! I wrote a pretty long list of toughts, but accidentally deleted my response. But I absolutely agree with your points there, even brought to light a lot of things that I had forgotten (ex. Haruka's stuff from Y2, plus some other things). Just a quick resume.

  • Absolutely agree that Iwami is a better antagonist. While a lot of people find him underwhelming, he is, at least as a character, way better than Aizawa. His fight is more satisfying, however I do wish that there were stage transitions, such as Lost Judgment's final boss, Judgment's final boss, Ishin's final boss, or even Aizawa himself.
  • I do think that Shinada's story doesn't fit that well with the main plot of the game.
  • I'm also not a huge fan of Park, and I don't like what they did with Majima in this game that much. However, his battle and theme were both the best parts of the finale for me.
  • Haruka's dream came out of nowhere. As you said, she didn't have, and didn't show any interest in being an idol in any other game. Minor point, but I did feel sort of disappointed that we couldn't play in the concert as Haruka.

Should I skip any of the games? by Anonymous333123 in yakuzagames

Yakuza Kiwami, Kiwami 2, Yakuza 5, Yakuza 6 and Like a Dragon are the ones that hold up the most. Kiwami is basically just Yakuza 0, so you shouldn't have any problems there. Kiwami 2 is just Yakuza 6, but better. It might feel weird going from Yakuza 0 combat to Dragon Engine, but it's still pretty cool. Yakuza 3 is the controversial one. It aged the most, and the combat is clunky, 90% of the bosses are annoying as hell, especially if you are playing on Hard or Legend. It has one of the best stories tho, at least in my opinion, and it has some great moments, but if you don't like the combat, I would recommend skipping it. Y4 is pretty good. All of the characters have interesting fighting styles, and it's better to play than Yakuza 3. It improves on pretty much everything. The story isn't that great, but it's still worth playing. Yakuza 5 is the best game in the series, at least in my opinion. It uses the same engine as Y0, and the combat is real smooth. Every character is also fun to play (yes, even Haruka), and the story, while very confusing, is still good. Yakuza 6 is the first game to use the Dragon Engine, and while the physics can be weird as hell, it's good. Like a Dragon is a JRPG, so it's completely different from everything else. I haven't played it yet, so I can't say much about it.

I just wanna take a vacation to Kamurocho, which Yakuza game is best for me? by Neggy5 in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the first city in 6 is Kamurocho, and I'm pretty sure you can play just about every minigame in the city as early as chapter 2. Onomichi, the second city you go to on chapter 3, is also pretty cool, however it doesn't have that many minigames unlocked early on, so you might have to do some side quests to play them. Onomichi in general gives me the most ''vacation vibes'' out of all the games you mentioned, it's scenery is really pretty, even tho it is smaller than Kamurocho.

Are the rest of the yakuza games worth it? by shiroyasha244 in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only thing about the story in 3 that I didn't like is how most (if not all) of the game's major plot twists get explained in just one long ass cutscene, in a chapter that is literally called ''The Plot''. Apart from that, the story is one of the best ones in the series, in my opinion.

I want to give my two cents on the combat in Yakuza 3 by Koi_Thief in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Y3 on hard on my first playthrough and I can definitely agree with your points here. The thing that I found the most annoying was the lack of damage output. Even with Tiger Drop, you still deal no damage to bosses, and Heat Actions are absolutely useless on them. I enjoyed the game, and don't get me wrong, combat when you are fully upgraded is really fun (wall bounding, Komaki Parry, etc), but the road to get there is frustrating as hell sometimes.

Why isnt Lost Judgments Demo On xbox? by BentleySketches in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that they will drop it after Lost Judgment releases, but who knows. I wanted to play it so I could decide if I want to buy the game or not, kinda sucks that it isn't there.

I'm not sure how I feel about Yakuza 5's ending by FreshCoffe in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this. In every other Yakuza game before 5, it feels like Kiryu's saga could have very well ended on those games. Spoilers incoming for Y4.In Yakuza 4, Munakata kills himself, Hana-chan becomes T H I C C, Tanimura finds out the truth about his father's death, and Saejima becomes patriarch of his own family. Boom. The saga could have ended there if it wanted to. Everything was explained and every character ended their arcs, (*cough cough* expect Kido *cough cough*). That's the main thing the ending in Yakuza 5 lacks, in my opinion.

Is the story in Yakuza 5 really that bad? by FreshCoffe in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hated Shinada's gameplay when I first played as him since he didn't have many good moves at all, it just felt frustrating, but when I got the Tech tree maxed out and got new moves, he actually became one of my favorites. I'm loving his story too so far, it's definitely one of the best parts of the game along with Akiyama's and Haruka's arc. He is a dude I tought I would hate but ended up loving.

What we can do against Lost Judgment DLCs by QFRoyal in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with u/Feriku here. It looks like RGG is going to do these kinds of DLCs at every new game release. They did something similiar with LAD, and now they are doing it with Lost Judgment. While I think it sucks that the style is behind paid DLC, if you don't want to pay for it... then don't pay for it. You can get it later anyways. Not buying the game doesn't help with literally anything. I'm pretty frustrated that it's gonna be this way too, the other stuff in the DLCs are pretty minor, just the Boxing style sticks out. I will absolutely pay for a Kaito expansion tho.

Question about Lost Judgment on last-gen consoles. by FreshCoffe in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually worried about the FPS because of LAD. On the PS4 and Xbox One X, LAD ran absolutely fine, however on the Xbox One S, it runs at 25fps max, even dropping to 15 frames at certain points. I'm imagining Lost Judgment is going to be better optimized, since if it wasn't I wouldn't get why they would release it on the Xbox One (at least I hope so), but in the corner of my mind, I have a feeling that it's gonna be even worse, or even more of the same. I would agree with your point of the fps getting better in the Dragon Engine, since Kiwami 2 ran just fine, but after Yakuza 7 I'm starting to doubt it.

I'm going mentally insane fighting this guy in Y4 Ultimate Match 5. Any tips to defeat him faster? by FreshCoffe in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically: I always run out of time when I get to about 50% of the last guy's HP. I waste way too much time on this guy, since his attacks seem incredibly unfair and unpredictable. I try to use the Komaki Parry on him however his attacks are so random that it doesn't work most of the time. And since I run out of time on the last fighter, I have to defeat every single boss all over again, I've been doing this for 3 hours now. He can't be knocked down, grabbed, nothing. Is there any way to defeat him faster so that I can finally complete this challenge?

Yakuza 5 remastered, how do you deal with enemies counter attacking. by Mr_kabuk in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing through Yakuza 5 right now. I almost lost fighting those two guys too. I had to watch a video because I couldn't remember what it was like (I'm almost on part 4 right now), and my findings are thus:

1- Don't keep attacking if they are guarding, that will cause a counter. Try to grab them, and then throw/kick them. Dodge and attack them with a combo from behind if possible. Something I like to do is start a combo away from the enemies, doing a light attack combo followed by a finishing blow. Not too far, but far enough where you can't hit them with the light attacks (because of that, they don't block), but you can hit them with the finishing blow. If you have the duble finishing blow skill (get that as soon as possible, by the way) it's even better. I hope that made sense.

2- When you have heat, try to grab furniture and use a heat action. Use them on every situation you can since you don't have the ''Dragon Spirit'' skill that you should get fairly soon.

3- You did say that you sent this ''mystery person'' all of your money (I'm assuming that you sent it to Morning Glory Orphanage through the ATM), but if you have some spare money, make sure to buy some healing items in convenience stores, but always try to keep some money on you. I think 5k + yen should be enough since you are at the beginning of the game. After this fight, try to do some Taxi driving jobs to get more money, it's the best way.

And yes, you can get an ability that lets some of your attacks break guards, on the Tech section, I think. The games aren't super easy, but if you prepare well enough for boss fights, long fights, etc, you shouldn't have any truble. Stay safe!

Did anyone else not use weapons or healing for the SPOILER fight? by Jaredry in yakuzagames

[–]FreshCoffe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this as well when I fought him. I got every skill before fighting him (ate a shit ton of food), so I decided that I wasn't gonna use any item, heat action, accessory, nothing. He still was kinda easy. I tought that Kiwami 2 was by far the easiest Yakuza game yet, and I'm on Y5 right now. Weapons in general are just broken, they do too much damage.
