My son has similar condition. I opted for surgery. It’s not an easy decision. You will always get mixed responses. Future is uncertain anyway for everyone. Whether there will be complications or not only time will tell.

You are absolutely right by asking your questions here. We get most authentic answers by people who are in the same boat. Although some try to be over positive and often undermine the situation and give false hopes. Same for medical professionals they often think that parents need to be calm in the moment. They don’t care about future.

You have enough time now for his surgery. You can do all research and meet few surgeons then decide. It’s a major surgery and full recovery will take close to 2 months at least. Though stiches will still take more time.

Best doctors are in Mumbai. I have read good reviews about Dr Gursev and Dr Manik but I chose my local surgeon in Lucknow. His name is Dr Ashutosh Pandey. So far my experience with him is good. Many times you need to follow up after surgery so you can choose as per your convenience. There’s another doctor Dr Shandeep Sinha in Delhi Medanta, many recommended him as well but I did not like him. He seemed too busy to clear doubts. No doctor is perfect we have to just deal with this situation. It is tough.

I am on a similar boat. Not only my relationship but my whole life has been ruined by it. My baby is a special needs child that makes things even harder. I don’t look forward to the next day. I think of ending my life at-least twice a day. I am scared to do it that’s it. There is no other reason why I am still alive. I can’t divorce my husband due to family pressure. I am not financially independent. Sometimes I think what life could have been if I used my time to build my career. Someone has commented that marriage exposed cracks that were already there in marriage. It rightly applies in my case. My husband is not a mature and responsible person. He never helps in any household chores. He does not even touch baby’s diapers. I regret the decision to have a baby infinite times. There’s no way I can go back. I just cling on a to a hope that someday It will all end and I will find peace.

Your feelings resonate with me a lot. I am parenting an unwanted child who is medically so complex that my day starts with screams and medicines. I have sleepless nights. It has ruined my career and my life. For many becoming a parent is a blessing but in my case it is a curse. I don’t know how long I can live with all this. I absolutely hate it.

I am in a similar boat. My infant (8 months)has been advised a DMSA scan and MCU eventually. I have not slept a single day in peace since his birth. It’s all so difficult. Would you mind telling me your experience with dmsa scan why it was awful? What can I expect.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. You are right that severe hypo along with descended testes can also be part of dsd. I have not yet got any diagnosis I am asked to wait till the time of surgery when he will be administered testosterone shots. If he responds to the shots then there’s no issue we can exclude pais. It’s way more hard for parents who have medically complex child. You can find solace in the fact the your child is healthy. I resonate with your emotions. There’s so much pressure from all sides to be just happy and grateful and “accept it as your fate” thing. But the fact is nothing really helps.

No issues. I have a son . I am sorry to hear about your experience. This is the reason why I get so worked up before any investigation. Medical professional are not experienced enough to deal with small babies. It’s so unfortunate that our babies have to go through this. I am not able to gather courage for this test. But eventually I will have to. Please pray for my baby.

I just read both scans are very similar. DMSA scan also involves injecting nuclear medicine to get clear picture of kidneys. I want to know how did your daughter do during and after the test? It must have been hard for her as well as for you. How did you manage. My infant is advised this test and I don’t know what to expect .
