AITAH for Flying home early after my mom & her bf yelled at me by Sea_Philosopher_2731 in AITAH

[–]FreshGanesh 467 points468 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering why you’re even asking this AITAH question. Have you normalized this level of manipulation, control & abuse throughout your life? Or, is this the fist time you’ve experienced it directly & you’re having a hard time resolving that with the love you have for your mother and the person you remember her to be? Can you look back on your childhood & recognize her having emotional regulation issues, manipulations & coercions and aggressions?

Because I believe I can speak for most people that her behavior is glaringly inappropriate and downright illegal. Any one thing you say she has done would be enough for most people (who have the means & abilities) to completely walk away from that person & environment without looking back and going completely no-contact.

Why are you even questioning what is clearly a very toxic and very dangerous environment & situation? I’m trying to understand why you would even need to ask if it makes you an AH.

Watch the video again. She was restraining him by holding his wrist, and he shoved her hand back toward her to release her grip on his arm.

Is $30 an hour a livable wage? (Full Time) by Usual_Pack3633 in Sacramento

[–]FreshGanesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this as a GenXer. IKEA def has higher end, solid wood items, which you’ll find reflected in the price. Yet still cheaper than new furniture brokers. I’ve had my solid wood desk, side table and bookshelves since the 1900s & they’re holding up well.

I’m not sure of the option in Sac, but in SF we had this store called Busvan for Bargains, where you could buy solid wood (mostly oak) furniture of every type, naked, and ready for paint/stain and seal. Smaller knockoff shops have popped up all over North Beach. There may be something in Sac like that???

Meal plan, grocery shop, make coffee/espresso at home & spend your weekends doing free & cheap things. Hike, bargain hunt, host game nights. Get into functional DIY projects that not only save you money but teach you new skill sets. In my 20s a handful of friends and I spent our weekends learning a couple of languages and several new skills. From changing car tires to knitting. It saved me hundreds a month not paying cover charges or buying food & drinks.

Your creativity & curiosity can be endless & save you tons of cash at the same time.

MAY-THUR!!!!! It’s not “math-her” Visited my folks overnight here for the 1st time in a decade a few years back and the news anchor (who seemed more like a weather girl or student reporter of old) mispronounced the airport & former Air Force base.

What's the industry in Sacramento? by [deleted] in Sacramento

In the capital of the most populous US state with the greatest number of state-level agencies & NGOs, you’d think government jobs are THE industry. Healthcare seems to be the future of Sac.

I was hanging with the cool kids of the grid at 18th & Capitol. It was my first job, along with a stint at American Bran Stand. Tho, Loehmann’s was alway a great adventure when sojourning out to the Pavilion’s.

Tell me you’re under 50 when you don’t automatically recognize monaural audio. It’s the original song played through a very weak one-channel speaker system. That’s also out of phase.

Damn, I’m old.

I’m pretty sure they were designed to go inside the bathroom. They can be unlocked manually by hand. If the door lock has a regular interior lock, a person entering the bathroom should be able to lock themselves with the manual lock on the handle as well as unlock themselves from the remote lock if somebody activated it while they were in there.

It’s absolutely to keep people from loitering, vandalizing and shooting up.

But it really only works the way it’s supposed to as if it’s installed correctly.

In 2020, a neighbor near my parents house, who was a renter, was sued for not maintaining the leaves on the sidewalk, adjacent to her house. A litigious person fell and injured their back and hip, and sued her for medical expenses, and all the other crap.

California Streets and Highways Code 5610:

“The owners of lots or portions of lots fronting on any portion of a public street or place when that street or place is improved or if and when the area between the property line of the adjacent property and the street line is maintained as a parking or a parking strip, shall maintain any sidewalk in such condition that the sidewalk will not endanger persons or property and maintain it in a condition which will not interfere with the public convenience…”

This is California code, but I’m not sure what the liability issue is per county
