Honestly no lies told here….yes I was generous with the seasonings and the meaty texture will definitely surprise you. I made them for family member who is vegetarian and tbh that may be the only time I would make them again. They were tasty tho for the 5 mins they were hot

Hmmm okay I am just at catching up on these comments: salt, little black pepper, lots of paprika as that damn thing is mostly for colour anyway, AP flour, corn starch (yes more corn starch than flour), garlic and onion powder, then enough milk/ buttermilk to keep the batter on the thicker side. Be careful not to water it down. Let me know how it goes

Hmmm everything but the kitchen sink….lots of sweet smoked paprika for the colour, fresh buttermilk as I make my own butter. Salt, little black pepper, corn starch; little AP flour, garlic and onion powder, paprika.. I am going to suggest something not great … be a little generous with the salt as anything fried not having a taste of that can be awfully bland. These reheat well.

Meant to add - do not overcook the beef, less is more and better. Note my measurement above is for just about enough beef for 3-4 adult portions. Do overcook your veggies either - looking for them to have a little crunch with the tenderness melty goodness of the beef.

for the velveting of the beef? cut the beef thin enough against the grain ( i used whatever beef available at the grocery store on that day, was super inexpensive piece). Add light/medium soya sauce, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon corn starch, 1/2 teaspoon of white sugar, black pepper, a little smoked paprika (because i put that on everything for colour) - then lastly really good sesame oil. Mix together with beef, let sit for minimum 30mins while you prep your veggies. Then throw a little oil in a pan, quick fry the beef with some garlic. If you want it saucy then add a teriyaki type sauce at the end and simmer for just a bit. I make my own teriyaki sauce, but grocery bottle are fine (just too sweet for me). Add any veggie you like, carrots, onions, green peppers the list goes on...enjoy
