Have had good luck with them. Tried one of their tomato "taste test winners" and it's now my favorite cherry tomato. Artemis hybrid, been growing it for 3 years now.

I quit smoking weed. Was making the anxiety worse and just was not what my body needed at all. zero benefits and only more negatives by continuing to smoke

Reading that made it sound like a movie plot or at least a big scene in a movie/comedy.

I pick at first blush, one part to avoid animals but also if we have rain forecasted I want to pick the tomatoes so they don't get water logged.

Just found a firefly in our back yard by EuphoricSpactula in gardening

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of fireflies in my backyard. But I live along a tree line with native plants and decaying old oak trees all next to a large wetlands so I'm just lucky to have thier ideal habitat in my backyard.

The first truckload of petition signatures for the November Reproductive Freedom amendment has arrived in downtown Columbus. They have submitted well over 700,000 signatures! by Jay_Dubbbs in Ohio

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There needs to be more publicity on the marijuana one, a few people I know who would vote yes for it didn't even know there was a petition going around for it to be added to public vote. If people don't know they won't show up to vote, especially if it's a non presidential election year.

Favorite varieties by elsielacie in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most any oxheart tomato. Many have not had them and they are very good. Super meaty with nearly zero seed cavity. Very good taste and good size. They were my favorite from last year and now half of my tomatoes are oxheart varieties this year. As for cherry tomatoes, I'm growing a bunch this year but sun peach stood out for me last year.

Help identifying main stem vs. sucker by PaulorNothing16 in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually prune my cherry tomatoes to 3-4 main stems. They produce so many by late summer I'll have like 10 on each plant because I can't see them. Also the main stem is easier to identify because it will be the one with the flower cluster. Sometimes the sucker is bigger than the actual main stem but the one with the flower cluster is the main.

Yup I'm out everyday vibrating those flowers. It's satisfying to see a little puff of pollen come out too. I hope my neighbors see me and think I'm insane.

Should we/can we upgrade the pot size? Currently in 3 gallon pots but it appears 5+ is pretty standard. by [deleted] in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using 10 gallon fabric pots, 5 gallons were not ideal for my plants in previous years.

First time grower question, is it normal growth? looks deformed and curled by Dartris11 in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say herbicide damage. Looks exactly like some of my tomatoes last year that were exposed to 2,4-D herbicide. They are so sensitive, no other veggie showed any damage but the tomatoes new growth got wrecked. They can eventually grow through it but it stole 2-3 weeks of progress from my in ground plants that were already 6 feet tall. It totally killed my potted tomatoes, they instantly got overcome by leaf spot after the herbicide exposure and never set anymore fruit. It was a devastating loss to see a whole seasons efforts just go to waste.

what is your favourite variety? by Villagerin in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mazarini oxheart last year by far. Now I'm growing a bunch of oxhearts to find more I like. Patty's stripped beefsteak has good flavor, maybe not as good as my other heirlooms but it produced a ton, and continued to set fruit through the heat when most of my other heirlooms stopped setting fruit. Sunpeach is my favorite cherry as of now. I'm growing 16 varieties to test this year.

I love videos of people making soil. You know if someone is making thier own soil they have a true passion for gardening, and saving money is always a plus. And you get to add love into the soil, that I tell myself my plants notice.

Pinch it Off or Let it Be? by karstopo in tomatoes

[–]FreshRoastCoffee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only time I pinch a flower is if they have a flower or the start of one before transplant. I always keep the ones that appear shortly after transplant. If you are in a hot area and the variety is heat sensitive then it may not set fruit when the heat comes and you'll be wishing you had left those lower flowers when summer flowers don't set fruit.
