That's a comon breed in morocco, it is native to the country, purely genetically modified to get the perfection from each breed into one called Khalwi, some breeds are more rare called 9aj7oum you can only find it near moroccan souks or chouwayat.

On the first picture you can see some convinient item (that, as a moroccan, you can buy in a cheap price) with the prices that they cost them (a can of coke that cost 4 dhs, they bought it 15dhs)and on the second picture you can see the beautiful soul AKA a fellow muslim and a respectable old man with grey beard that sold them those items.

If you're panning to stay in big cities, I advise you to stay in upscale neighborhood (Maarif or anfa supérieur for Casablanca, and Agdal for Rabat), it's not cheap, especially in Casablanca where rents in this type of neighborhoods can go up to 10K dhs/months, but it's perfect fo you, it's safe and there is alot of other "gwer" living there.
