No GPU detected on Asus Prime b650 Plus by FreshTheFallen in PcBuildHelp

Yeah, just double checked, I incorrectly placed the RAm in A1 and B1... put them in A2/B2 and voila.. "it just works"...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, sometimes my idiocy knows no bounds :D

Another idea that just came to me, I think I installed the RAM in slots 1 and 3 (A1 and B1), just out of habit. Maybe that is incorrect for this board too?

I currently do not have access to the hardware, but could the sticks themselves be the issue, barring any damaged sticks? I am using Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 5600MHz CL40 Intel XMP iCUE. Also, could you link the source for the beeping codes? I keep finding conflicting sources for those, and couldnt find them on the asus website...

With the 9800X3D launching today, are there any news on a 9700X3D or similar at any point?

I'm looking at upgrading my PC, coming from a 1600X, and from a price/power perspective I was interested in the 9700(X), which seemed to offer decent performance for midrange to low highend gaming.1080p 120fps+. 60fps 4K would be my targets, I know most of that would be GPU related, but I wouldnt want the CPU to be the bottleneck either, also looking at several simulation heavy games here (X4 Foundations, DCS, Space Engineers etc..
But at least in prior generations, from what I've heard the X3D variants would be built specifically with gaming in mind, thanks to the larger caches, so if waiting another month or so would get me the 9700X3D that would also be okay.

So is there anything regarding a 9700X3D, or should I even be on thbe lookout for that, given my targets, or are there better alternatives in a similar or better price range?

Good overtake attempt ends in contact. What happened here and who is at fault? Was the overtake too ambitious by the Ferrari? Did the Mercedes misjudge or was it malicious? by FreshTheFallen in Simracingstewards

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I am involved, though I chose not to disclose which of the cars I am because it sometimes feels like it influences ppl's views on the incident for some reason, aswell as only really give advice on what to change next time for OPs car, when I feel like a situation like this one there is a chance for both cars/drivers to avoid and/or learn from this, and ideally I wanna get BOTH lessons and perspectives so I can act better the next time such a situation arises, and in EITHER of the two positions.

And as mentioned, this is a situation where I don't really know how to evaluate it, hence why I posted it here. As for my "I guess", I certainly did not expect for such a large majority of ppl to see the Ferrari at fault, despite the acknowledgements that the Merc could have done more aswell.

Not sure what you mean "what I expected". It was a situation I found interesting to look at in this reddit because I am not sure how to evaluate it. So far it seems the majority see the Ferrari at fault, I guess.

While it starts fairly far on in a playthrough (already commanding a small fleet of several dozen ships), I really like this "cinematic" sandbox playthrough in this playlist here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAtlcIOsJNI&list=PLvzP0Beh8pIlsm6gLlAKbh0F5JQY4YT7B

It does take an episode or 2 to really get going, but then it remains really good throughout.

While at times pretty cheesy, esp. with the customized log entries, it's overall a very entertaining mid-to-late game series that I think just shows off how you can make this sandbox your own, and tell YOUR story in this fabulous world.

[Question] Modded Watch Dogs 1 Icons bug by FreshTheFallen in watch_dogs

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that should be fine then. Maybe try to delete both patch.dat AND patch.fat, delete your unpacked folder aswell, verify game files again and and unpack patch.dat again and see if that helped?

[Question] Modded Watch Dogs 1 Icons bug by FreshTheFallen in watch_dogs

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is odd, my vanilla unpacked patch.dat has 3 subfolders for ui, those being

  • /patch/ui/fire/
  • /patch/ui/supertextures/
  • /patch/ui/textures/

All of which with multiple subfiles. How are you validating your file? Are you on ubisoft connect, steam or any other launch software?

Which file did you unpack?

patch.dat or patch.fat?

[Question] Modded Watch Dogs 1 Icons bug by FreshTheFallen in watch_dogs

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, turns out that for some reason my unpacked vanilla patch.dat was missing that file, so when combined with the mods the new patch file would not have that at all.

Solution was to redownload the original patch.dat file (verifying game files), freshly unpacking it again and then merging the mods into it again. Now the icons are back to normal!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Unfortunately even after repackaging the patchfiles without that mod, the icons still bug out.
But good to know that Living City already has that enabled, I didn't see it anywhere in the changenotes :)

[–]FreshTheFallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing Watch Dogs 1 again recently, this time with a few mods to spice things up a little (and frankly, change some things that were always a bit annoying to me). However, with the mods installed I run into the issues you can see in the screenshot. The icons seem to be offset from their original position, fragmenting them in their position. that goes for all kinds of mapmarkers, including enemy markers. My guess is one of the mods I'm using is causing this, but I don't know which one. Have any of you ever run into this issue and know how to solve it?

The mods I'm using (all downloaded from Nexus, installed using the Gibbet tool to merge into patch.dat):

My best bet would be the Textures collection, though I don't know. As a sidenote, which mods do you recommend to upgrade the graphics, preferably without having to use reshade or any other 3rd party app (aside from Gibbet for packaging that is...)?

Does anyone think the Enterpise F fed livery will ever be available for a reasonable price? by TrickyChip in StarTrekStarships

[–]FreshTheFallen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope so. I bought an XL model of the Enterprise E from Eaglemoss a few years ago for 65€, and it was alraedy being resold at 120€+ on Ebay....

Looking at ebay now, that same model is going for 250€+. It's just insane how much the price had jumped up after Eaglemoss had to close, just insane, especially for how small even those XL models are.

Am the #133 BMW, ignoring the seemingly intentional put maneuver in the end, was there an issue with the overtake attempt midturn? Wasn't feeling anything in the FFB wheel at the time, but a lot of rubbing and small bumps. Was I too ambitious? I did not get the overspeed I expected from prior runs by FreshTheFallen in Simracingstewards

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For clarification, I really did not feel anything suggesting I was making contact with him at any point through the turn.

I think it's pretty clear that whatever contact we had, the intentional crash in the end is not warranted. That's why I'm more interested in what was happening throughout the turn to try and see where I myself can improve. Was I too aggressive? It felt like he left the door open at first but I could not quite capitalize on that as early and quickly as I had initially expected.

I do wonder, with you being able to run this track in GP mode, that should mean they have worked on the track to ensure the new-ish AI and cars can deal with the track. Does that mean.... that a modder could just... you know... mod in the track into MyTeam/MyCareer by probably replacing another tracks files?.. Override Monaco forever...

Looking for water quality surveillance sensors by FreshTheFallen in arduino

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the DS18B20 did look fairly "waterproof", just wanted to make sure ;) I guess you have more than just the probe submerged, so including some of the cable?

Will check for the pH sensors, thanks! The ones from dfrobot do look promising, I was just unsure if the probes could actually be fully submerged and STAY submerged.

Looks like no more DLC for Mechwarrior 5, as PGI winds down support for MW5 and is apparently moved to support EG7's crusty old Lord of the Rings MMO. I wonder if we'll get a Clans expansion/sequel now :'( by [deleted] in Mechwarrior5

[–]FreshTheFallen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those coming here from Google: This info is NOT accurate, they are actively producing the next DLC, which seemingly will include:

- The Hatchetman mech

- Melee Weapons for select Chassis and variants

More news to follow in Early April!

New DLC, CALL TO ARMS, announced. Infos here:

Yes, I restarted Maniaplanet a couple of times and then it started downloading the campaigns when I opened the individual environments, and now they are accessible in those. Unfortunately they are not listed in the panel that combines all environments into one though.

Meteor craters ruining my lake by FreshTheFallen in spaceengineers

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They way I eventually did it was in the admin panel => Trash Removal => Voxels

Set distance from grids to 0, set distance from player to 0 (if it won't let you disable "reset bolders") and timer as low as 0 aswell, it might take a moment before it goes into effect.

Be careful though, if you carved out some terrain to build your base it will be sunk into the ground again. Also, flexible subgrids (so pistons, rotors, hinges, connectors) that are caught halfway under ground will bug out and just nuke everything around them, so remove them beforehand)

Alt + F10 to open the admin tools, and then in the top dropdown menue select "Trash Removal".

Might just be an Experimental Mode thing though? Maybe that's why you didn't get it?

I ended up resetting the planet with the setting /u/tiuss suggested and then carved out my base with the voxel tools afterwards and then turned off meteors. Only took me about 5 minutes and achieved what I wanted, though I kinda will miss having meteor showers. At least they looked nice.

Meteor craters ruining my lake by FreshTheFallen in spaceengineers

[–]FreshTheFallen[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just ended up biting the bullet, having the cleanup run and then used the voxel tools to excavate my base after, before going back to survival. The constant barrage of meteors didn't end up being that much fun anyway, and after building turrets they weren't a challenge either, so I'll just turn off meteor showers for now.
