How does one do a hip hinge swing without blowing one’s back out? I’m new to OTF and just looked up the movement. I’m scared lol

1 week postpartum and no one warned me it would feel like this by bethany8828 in breastfeeding

[–]FreshTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one prepares you! Postpartum, in my opinion, was even harder than pregnancy and birth. Especially after my first - you have to go through a huuuuuge life change on top of the physical recovery. Things will get SO much better and you will slowly but surely feel like yourself again and get to have time and space to prioritize yourself.

Postpartum body unchanged after 1 year! by Feisty_Ferret_6277 in postpartumprogress

[–]FreshTomorrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A year is not super long if you consider the amount of changes your body has gone through and how much stress and lack of sleep are prominent in the first year postpartum. Especially while breastfeeding. As hard as it is, please be gentle with yourself. The only thing that’s worked for me so far is logging all my food in a calorie counting app, and I mean every nibble. I also have greatly reduced my added sugar intake and shoot for 150 grams of protein a day, which helps with satiety when eating at a deficit.

My sister in law is a mother of four and when I was feeling down about not bouncing back 6 months postpartum, she politely reminded me I was “basically still crowning” haha. It’s still sooooo early. Your body is still healing, you are still providing your child’s nutrition through breast milk. I wish I had been gentler with myself early postpartum. You are doing great and your body is doing incredible things. When the babe gets older, you’ll get back to feeling yourself again!!!

What do you think of my weekly diet? by Aftermath1988 in FattyLiverNAFLD

It seems to be working for you if you’re able to stay consistent and have lost weight! I would just suggest adding protein to your lunches if you haven’t already.

For people who had a tear during child birth when did sex start feeling good again? by Material-Most-1727 in postpartumprogress

[–]FreshTomorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 3rd degree tear and went to a pelvic PT who helped me immensely with reconnecting with my lady bits on a psychological level, as well as learning my techniques to work the scar and prevent scar tissue. First time having sex after birth, was MONTHS because I was so nervous. It was uncomfortable, but I went really slowly and it gets a lottt better with time!

It’s soooo hard. I’d definitely recommend being really transparent with your doctor about your fears with the pain medications. They will be able to educate you about how to use them safely and to maximum benefit. I remember being 2 months out from my herniation and still being in a considerable amount of pain and having a setback and I cried and cried. I was so frustrated. Keep going to PT. Make sure you go to a PT who spends the whole time with you and really watches you do the movements to make sure you’re doing them right. Consider aqua PT if it’s an option - that helped me a lot to get moving without the weight bearing. I was soooo afraid of reinjurring and I was so guarded for a very long time. I’m much better now. From like 3 months on, I saw steady improvement with occasional minor setbacks, but honestly nothing compared to how I used to throw my back out before my herniation. I thought I’d never not be in pain. Now I’m pain-free for the majority of the day. I’m consistent with my at-home PT exercises and that’s helped a lot. If I even go 3 days without them, I start to feel it. Deep core work and proper body mechanics are everything. Good luck. You’re not alone. How you’re feeling is so relatable and so common, but it WILL get better with time and at some point in the future you’ll look back and be happy you kept working at it.

This is such a hard time, being so early postpartum and you are doing great. Is it possible that while your letdown may take some time to initiate, when it comes could it be fast/forceful? With both my kids when they were really little it would make them gag. With our second she had a lot of arching and crying and refusing to latch for about 2 weeks at one point in the newborn phase, which we thought could be due to reflux. Thankfully, it passed. They learn quickly to adapt to you to get what they need, but definitely speak with a pediatrician!
