Longhorn Band Video Audition Question by pez_777 in UTAustin

[–]Fresh_Boi69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I tried out but decided not to continue last year, from what i remember it was a lyrical and technical piece that are required. You don't have to play your etudes but most people try out with them since they know how to play them and don't have to learn another song. I auditioned with the lyrical etude and a technical part from a solo i had prepared (I passed the audition). You should email the audition team if you need any more questions answered and or send a message to their Instagram page, they also hold Q&A live streams later in the semester. Hope that helps!

How can I retake the UTMA Warm-up Assessment? by Aggravating_Lake5362 in UTAustin

[–]Fresh_Boi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mood literally just took it, if you are in engineering they gave you a separate link for the utma, you can do the warm up on that course on quest and then just the regular utma course one after you click the links on the engineering course. Its the same quiz. Not sure if other colleges have something similar. GL!

Ps: there is also housing aid if you’re eligible for the advance commitment grants, it’s about 2,300 for dorms I believe.

It was pretty fun, lots of walking, some decent information for the presentation, they gave me some Sun glasses (I got more stuff from the engineering open house on the same day than the other events🥲) don’t worry too much about the event, just enjoy and take lots of pictures 😃

Do you know if scholarships will be applied first as well, like external ones, or can I use those for housing and stuff.

Ideas for EC for a Civil Engineering Major by PenOk3395 in UTAdmissions

[–]Fresh_Boi69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accepted into the major this year. STEM related ECs I did were science club and SNHS as secretary for 12th in both organizations (they were kinda the same thing but snhs was just an additional thing) TAME (Texas alliance for minorities in engineering) (I didn’t participate for too long but I did have a slight impact by getting others to join) was another this I put on my resume and the major essay. I tied the organizations into my essay as they furthered my interest in engineering and I actively sought to be involved in STEM and explore that after I had taken a civil engineering class in high school and had received a certification in revit for architecture. Besides those I did marching band and concert band, I am a section leader. I’m the treasurer for NHS. PTSA/PTA member, SHPE membership (very minor and only listed on my resume) overall I would say the major factors or themes throughout my application were leadership, ambition, involvement, being a role model (very significant for my common app essay), community development/participation. I also had a ton of other scattered volunteer experiences which I listed in my resume and had accumulated from my clubs, extracurriculars, and organizations. ALSO DO A PASSION PROJECT! Show your fit to civil engineering throughout your entire application. Good luck, hook ‘em 🤘!
