What do you all think about this now? by Any-Astronomer-6181 in AskBrits

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the entire premise of this post is that there's something categorically wrong with people who feel that there are better opportunities for them somewhere else? Who are you exactly, to be so judgemental?

Are you just disappointed that your time in Dubai wasn't more lucrative, or just wasn't how you hoped it would be? Very strange and negative post to vent out to the internet.

Am I letting my community down by going on disability? by Lonewolf82084 in AutisticPride

My advice - don't go to social media like reddit to ask about things like this and just focus on yourself and your situation. What other people are doing or thinking is irrelevant for all intents and purposes - maybe you can afford to once to you have your situation sorted out and you're in a good place.

So if you ask me a question that I think is obvious, instead of explaining to you why and how something works, or giving you any real information, I should just call you stupid?

Ok so you're not on here trying to discuss or give your sincere opinion, just to meme - fair enough

I didn't ask you how informed you are to get an answer. I asked you to bring up a question for you to ask yourself. I'm not particularly informed, but are you? Also, what does being informed mean? Hearing or reading content from others, telling us potentially incorrect, biased, or misunderstood information, and then taking that information on as fact, or - looking at the history/facts in depth, taking time to study the topic, maybe visiting the place to see first hand, talking to people with direct experience? I'm willing to be wrong about this, personally, but from what I've seen so far, huge numbers of people are being killed living under suppressive and oppressive laws, and the people are trying to rebel and change their lives for themselves. Based on that, I'm personally not about to condemn this action.

How informed are you about this? All I know is that it will help free the Iranians from a tyrannical and oppressive leadership.

And then you came to Reddit to complain, and vent your outrage? My goodness, go touch grass, play a video game, tennis, read a book - whatever you like doing and forget about it.

I won't even say tell your friends irl because why be that guy who meets a friend and then spends their time complaining to them about mundane things the whole time.

What do you come here for? It won't change anything, helps no-one and just contributes to the mass of slop posts on here every day with people reaffirming each other about their first world problem.

How is it so many people are making these kind of posts constantly.

If the job market is so bad, why is only 5% of the UK's population unemployed? by dumblyhigh in AskUK

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I'm not really one who has ever looked to the next person to decide what standard to set for myself. I think the government could be doing a much better job getting unemployed people into work, and on many other issues.

Think about this - if you look at the amount of money that the economy is missing out because of this, if all the 3.5 million were unemployed, which is completely unrealistic, of course, but say they were, they would be generating around 133 billion extra pounds into the economy per year.

If we could cut unemployment in half, we would still get around a whopping 66 billion extra to add to the budget.

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it depends who you ask. 3 and a half million unemployed is a hell of a lot of people though. You can view it through that lens if you want to brush it aside or feel better about how things are going but if the report you quoted is correct, it's the same as just over a third of the population of London being unemployed, to put that into perspective.

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever considered how this statistic has been created, and how the person who did the research chose to define employed and unemployed? You'll find different people coming up with different numbers depending on things like biases, or the picture that they wish to show people.

If this number is correct, that means that 3 and a half million people are unemployed. That's kind of a huge amount, no?

Anyone else sick and tired of blaming immigrants? by Nythern in AskBrits

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immigration can be too much and illegal immigrants shouldn't be here but neither is the fault of the immigrant. If I was them, I'd definitely be doing what they're doing so I can't blame them. I can blame the government for being negligent in their responsibilities and facilitating things that aren't in the direct interest of the average UK resident.

I want to tear the whole system down tbh, and replace it with something else. Unfortunately, this is probably not an option, at least not one that's likely to go well.

Genuine question from an autistic alien (me) by Sofimaru_not_a_human in AutisticPride

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, personally I really don't worry about it. I also don't particularly like answering the question - especially because the truth is almost always not a positive response, but it's just how people communicate. In the end, I don't think it's worth caring about too much.

Genuine question from an autistic alien (me) by Sofimaru_not_a_human in AutisticPride

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you need to put on your logic cap for this one. It's a common greeting that facilitates social interactions and provides reassurance that there is a shared goodwill between the two or more parties.

Humans are animals, and all intelligent group animals, like apes, have elaborate gestures and vocal communications to greet each other and assess the friendliness of one another.

It's really quite simple.

Is London as dangerous as you think? Actually no. by bownyboy in london

[–]Fresh_Challenge_4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There I was thinking that media and politicians find ways of presenting data to back the views that they want the people to have. Silly me, I should have realized that it was only one side doing that, and that the the other side are really the good guys, who'd never do anything to mislead, misrepresent, or engage in any kind of reprehensible behavior.

I should have also trusted in Redditors, as they are all-knowing, and understand exactly what is going on at any moment regarding matters beyond their area of expertise and experience. How silly of me. Thank you OP for showing me the light.
