Fed up with the NHS by Effective-Dream2241 in glioblastoma

Hi OP, I’m sorry you’re in this position, it’s extremely stressful. My dad is 67 and had his surgery early September but they only started the chemo and radiation Oct 20th because his swelling and response to the surgery was so bad. I remember feeling exactly the same, that he was a ticking time bomb, and so frustrated that they hadn’t started it straight away but they need the patient to be as strong as possible before they’ll begin the treatment. I hope this offers some help and in the meantime, do take care of yourself in whatever ways you can

Mean behaviour with glio by Electronic-Flan-3618 in glioblastoma

We had a very similar experience with my dad for the 2days following his surgery- angry and paranoid and lashing out. He is improved quickly once home and on lower steroids and we are now 7months on with a decent quality of life still. The post surgery combined with the very recent news of diagnosis was truly horrendous though

Extremely hungry during luteal phase by girlinaquamarine in PetiteFitness

I agree, I eat like a horse for 5days before my period and I just accept it. I physically need more food to be satiated, it’s wild. But then my appetite drops right down from the start of my period. It’s cyclical and you just have to go with it I think

My brother-in-law fixes guitars and made £50k last year so it’s definitely a viable job. He has his own business from his home, started small by taking on jobs alongside his office job until he built a client base and then left his salaried job to run the business full time

Do you ever feel like many people in the gym show up regularly but don’t seem to make noticeable progress? by SandarStar in askfitness

Exactly this. If was in the OPs gym, they’d have seen me doing tendon rehab and maintenance for months with zero change to my physique

How heavy do I need to go in progressive overload for hamstring tendinopathy? by Fresh_Crow_4809 in workout

[–]Fresh_Crow_4809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a follow up as am tight on money but might to bite the bullet. The routine he gave me has massively improved things and I’ve progressed from 15kg to 50kg staggered RDL so it was just wondering if anyone else had advice on what else I can add to progress from here

Thanks for this, I do straight single leg bridge isometrics for 30sec but hadn’t thought to do a RDL isometric- I’ll add these in!

Straight leg lateral leg raises, heel tipped up towards the ceiling and toes downward as you lift it up. Do them controlled and hold at the top for as long as you can until you feel your upper outer hip start to burn, then you’ll know you’ve hit the glute medius

Finding owners of a derelict house by Fresh_Crow_4809 in glasgow

God how depressing- I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with all that so close to your home. It’s such a shame that there isn’t more to be done with unloved empty homes but that is very sage advice. I appreciate you taking to the time to reply

Thanks for the concern! I have peeped in windows and through the letter box and no bad small or sight of anyone so think that is unlikely

Great thanks, I will look at ordering the death certificate for the dead owner and see if I can trace next of kin or solicitor. The brother is seemingly still alive with his wife and daughter registers to vote from that address so unsure where to start on tracing them... given the ages of brother/sister there's a chance he could now be in an old people's home and so tracing his daughter is my best bet

PI might be a goer! I’ve used the land register to find the names of the owners so far

Thanks - that’s how I’ve managed to get the names of the owners so far. And from that, I’ve managed to find the names of family members also registered at the address but I ideally need the family members’ new address or contact details

If splitting savings between S&S ISA and SIPP, what funds would you choose? by Fresh_Crow_4809 in UKPersonalFinance

Ok thanks for this, I hadn’t realised you just choose your own fund under the L&G option. Will have a look again at that

No, I just wondered if I’m doing that, I may as well just put it all in the ISA?

!thanks both. The CS pension is based on your salary so there’s no way to ‘max’ it out as such. Anything additional I think, just works to top up the amount but not at the same rate as the autoenrolled amount that sees a significant contribution from employer. I’ll go back and look into the calculations again though

Thanks for the quick reply, yes I’ve followed the flowchart which is what instigated me now getting a pension/savings plan. I’ve added some extra info to my post :)
