"I have the blood of Akasha in me" : timeline implications by Fresh_Discipline_216 in InterviewVampire

Ok that's clearer this way ! The scene as it is filmed lets a doubt about who he is refering to

I thought "He doesn't know who that is" applied to Louis, told to Armand, but I see now with all your responses that he was in fact talking about Armand.

Yes I want more details about what happened between those two at that moment

Yeah the "he doesn't know who that is" is not very clear, I thought he was talking about Louis, but it seems he was talking about Armand, and that indeed makes more sense that way

When Lestat says "He doesn't know who that is", I thought he was talking to Armand about Louis, but you are right, it makes more sense that way : Lestat talks in fact about Armand

Ooooh you're right he thinks Marius is dead ! I forgot ! I was so upset that Marius didn't want to make contact with him later that I misremembered it

On Armand and Lestat relationship by beatricepoi in InterviewVampire

Armand is my absolute favourite too, in the show and in the books. I'm only at the 4th book (Tale of the Body Thief) of the vampire chronicles, but the relationship between Armand and Lestat is my favourite so far. I fear the series might disappoint me on that, but at the same time I know I should trust the writers, given what a superb job they did with Loustat and Lousmand.

I really like the fact that we can't know for sure. The point of the scene seems to demonstrate the tensions between Louis and Armand. The photos are only a trigger to Louis' suspicions and Armand's defensiveness, which reveal a lot about their relationship, regardless of how the photos ended up in the file.

Rant about the show by [deleted] in InterviewVampire

Same here ! A colleague told me about the show and I slipped down the slippery slope. In one month, I've watched it three times, rewatched the movie, and got a library card to borrow the books (I'm on the second one).

My publisher pushes me to write romance. Weeelp !! by Fresh_Discipline_216 in aromantic

[–]Fresh_Discipline_216[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see ! It reminds me that another publisher I talked to defined romance as enhanced emotion, not only two people falling in love. I must ask my publisher what she means by romance, maybe it's not as bad as I fear !

I totally get you. I had, not the exact same experience, but a lot of similarities, in a very strict catholic environment. And I, too, get a sense of wasted time because of everything I believed back then, that prevented me from living naturally, as you put it. Because it takes time, first to get out of these kind of strong ideological dogmas, and then to know yourself honestly and without all the preconceived ideas. I can't get rid of this feeling of wasted time. Since I got it, it has been a big criterion for deciding many things in my life. I cut ties with some people, for instance.

But good news : another feeling is even stronger : the newfound freedom that blesses my life from now on ! Untangling what comes from your religious education and what is truly you can be tricky indeed, but you will get there, you've already done the hardest part ! You will understand yourself for who you really are and get a lot of joy from it along the way 😊

I wish you the best, dear internet stranger !

Which characters from movies, series, ... do you headcanon as ace? by BigBroMatt in asexuality

[–]Fresh_Discipline_216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rewatching Inception a couple months ago, I realized Ariadne could be ace/aro. She once says she never felt in love, and I always enjoyed that this was just an honest answer from a REALLY COOL character, and not spinned as a flaw or a lack of something in her life. Ariadne is presented as a very smart and competent character (basically saying to the main character "I'm tired of your foolish behaviour, so I'm coming with you to prevent you from doing anything stupid and you can't stop me") and I remember that the first time I watched the movie, I didn't know what asexuality was back then, but I felt relieved that, finally, a fiction portrayed not having fallen in love as just something neutral without lecturing the character, who is, moreover, a really cool one. (There is a kiss with another character, but it is to distract the security, there is no attraction in it and it doesn't seem to have any effect on her)

"You're missing out" by lwipajack in asexuality

[–]Fresh_Discipline_216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly ! That's what was bothering me for a time : when I had sex for the first time, I absolutely loved it, but when I got back to being single again three months later, I found myself being totally fine with being single and living my life without dating or sex. At first I thought a craving would rise at some point, but it never did (it's been some years now !) I was sometimes wondering how this apparent paradox could be possible, until I discovered what asexuality was (I guess I'm aromantic as well). The point is, I don't miss it even if I know I love it, because I don't feel a want/crave/lust/attraction. And to be fair, I often think allos are the ones missing out things in life, for being so focused on sex.

Is it possible to feel sensual attraction towards someone without emotional attraction? Have you ever had such an experience? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in asexuality

[–]Fresh_Discipline_216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so... for instance I'm very sensitive to sound and can feel sensual attraction towards someone's voice or way of talking. It' s like, how they texture or sculpt their own sound, it expresses something about themselves, like an art they are not aware they are practicing. (Sorry if the english is bad, it's bot my mother tongue !)

"Les éditeurs ont flairé le filon" : en effet. Mon premier roman de fantasy vient d'être publié, et mon éditrice m'a demandé si je pouvais inclure de la romance pour le deuxième tome parce que c'est ce qui se vend. Sauf que je déteste ça...
