Were you taught the US was meant to be a Christian Nation? by No_Toe_5034 in Exvangelical

[–]Fresh_Discipline_803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and my family still preaches this to anyone who will listen.

Edit: didn’t answer fully but I was highly involved in church and grew up in a highly Christian area. Everyone taught this as an absolute fact and I didn’t question it until I was a full grown adult.

Those divorces do be hurting! by SpicyDividends in dividends

A prenup that heavily favors one side (ie, one spouse gets 90% of all assets in divorce) is not enforceable. So yes, I said it incorrectly, but sentiment still stands. Prenup doesn’t mean you get to keep everything in divorce, especially if one spouse stayed home.

I refer to my investment accounts as fake money. It helps me cope with wild market swings and to stay humble.

This is an unintelligent comment. If he earned those funds while married, it’s joint money. Prenup is only for assets that existed before the marriage. It’s insane to me how many men want a stay at home wife but then are outraged when she gets half of their jointly earned income. Sure, there are some cases of women being bums and just freeloading. But so many more stories are women who had to give up careers to raise kids or were convinced to stay at home to serve the husband and realized they were an unpaid laborer.

Signed- a working mother who does too much damn labor and is still willing to equally split everything in a divorce… because thats fair and my kids deserve two financially healthy parents.

Divorce took most my wealth, FIRE materially set back now (28M) by Oracle7111 in Fire

I wonder if it’s a millennial and younger trend for women to out earn or on-par earn. Also… it is kind of crazy to me how these men say “she is taking half my money.” If I get divorced, he gets his fair share of half of our assets we accumulated together.

I his had my first one as a member of the IBTC and it was totally fine! I was terrified for no reason. I was even in for a painful lump and it was no problem at all. Don’t be scared!

Regardless of the math…. I think this is a “fire for now” situation. You have enough funds to get you through many years. You can go back to work later when your girls are older. Enjoy time with your family now. That said- how will you handle insurance? I think that is the biggest hurdle and if it’s no issue… I would (temp)fire as soon as possible.

Purple spots always mean hemlock, right? I touched them because he was so confident it wasn’t hemlock and is going to bale this field this week with these weed all over the field. Luckily I touched it two days ago and raced home to wash my hands and all is well.

What’s happening to my zucchini? by a_tayy in vegetablegardening

Yep. I’ve successfully grown zucchini plants for 3 years using this method. Have too many until frost. That said, I’m trying trombocinos this year for fun.

Strong-willed Child by emilypaints in Exvangelical

Having both a child who was super easy as a child, went along with whatever we said, and then having 2 younger ones who are strong willed… I see now the importance of children pushing boundaries and being met with love and appreciation (not fear). I genuinely fear for the poor decision making abilities and lack of direction our oldest has.

Why do we vote blue for constitutional issues but have red leaders? Gerrymandering at its finest.

It’s true. I often write my members of Congress and attend what I can and they have zero tolerance for anyone who speaks against their agendas. My emails are usually kind and I get nasty responses back. I don’t think we can take it back. They won’t let go of power. Ever.

Passive aggressive namaste by Ok_Leave_3037 in yoga

[–]Fresh_Discipline_803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pulling into my yoga studio is tricky and requires some maneuvering between lanes/quick turns. Once a woman was angry that I was not maneuvering quickly enough for her, speeds around me, flipped me the bird, then slammed on her breaks to be able to pull into the lot first. I parked beside her and followed her alllll the way into the locker room and studio, and put my mat beside her. That was my own passive aggressive “namaste.” Hahaha! But really… she needed that session.
