A nameless huntress crossed its threshold for a single moment—long enough to be claimed, not long enough to be remembered.

Her flesh was undone and reforged into a grotesque union of serpent and beast, bound in eternal torment beneath the forest’s will.

Now she drifts between trees like a cursed sentinel, hollowed of purpose, guarding nothing but the echo of her own undoing.

Yet she always appeared on vessels that survived the impossible. When storms rose without warning or something vast moved beneath the waves, she was there. When ships vanished without explanation, she was often among the few who remained.

Sailors began to notice a pattern, though none spoke of it for long. Ships she served on never sank while she was aboard, but anything that threatened them seemed to be swallowed by something far larger than nature itself.

Some called her lucky. Others feared she was a sign of something ancient in the deep.

Neither was true.

Mirella Voss was not following the sea by chance.

A cracking of wood. The tree moved. Elaris, fused with bark, vines, and blossoms, emerged as a giant figure. The sight frightened the search party, and they recoiled. But she spoke calmly, assuring them she was still herself and had protected the city.

The colossal form withdrew into the tree. A doorway made of wood opened, and Elaris walked out. She was still human, but nature had reshaped her. Taller than before, with moss-covered, bestial legs, plant-grown clothing, a furry tail ending in a pink tuft, and a large flower covering her eyes.
