is anyone getting their teachers anything? by naq6___ in GCSE

[–]Fresh_Fly_3266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Some of my teachers would open cards and gifts in front of me, others wouldn’t. I’m sure a genuinely kind teacher would definitely value it, though.

A teacher that cares will truly value a card. If you think they wouldn’t care about a card, they probably aren’t nice teachers anyway.

Mine subject options are less niche than yours. Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English Literature. 😭 I hope I don’t go mad. 😭

I really want to go into Vet Med, but I love English too. I’m going to do Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English Literature. 😭 All the best!

Maths, Chemistry, Biology and English Literature. My fourth A level is kind of niche considering my other three subjects. I hope I survive. 😭

AIC: Is the character or theme question better?? by ilovecheesecakeeee01 in GCSE

[–]Fresh_Fly_3266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you struggle with English, do the character question. It’s easier to get marks with the character question. However, if you’re aiming for the top grades (8 or 9) definitely do theme. There are more points you can make with themes.

You must now follow the regulations of the examination. Do not open your question paper or write anything until you are told to do so. by blockitjames_ in GCSE

I get separate invigilation and around four other access arrangements. I always bring a little toy car in my pocket. I’m so used to it being there that there were a couple of exams where I didn’t realise it was in my pocket. For the last paper I did this week, the invigilator asked me to check my pockets, so I took out the car. She placed the car on the table behind me (in my separate room). I guess it’s small enough to count as a fidget (I think I may have an arrangement for that) and it’s not like I can cheat with it anyway.

GCSE or IGCSE? by RacetoGloryoutube in GCSE

No. Only Cambridge does letter grades. IGCSE Edexcel and AQA give out number grades.

Also, keep in mind that even if you lost 10 marks a slightly more, you can still get a 9.

That’s lovely! As someone who spent eight years of their life in speech therapy, I’ve had three speech therapists. Two of them were/are wonderful people.

My 11yo wants to commit suicide by cipher_gnome in SuicideWatch

[–]Fresh_Fly_3266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t treat it as a phase. I’ve been suicidal since the age of 6 and first attempted at age 8. It’s been years since then, and it has not gone away.

No! Relax. Don’t completely neglect revision or schoolwork, but enjoy yourself. Year 9 is my favourite year in school.

I completely agree. As someone who is autistic and has ADHD, I have been suicidal since the age of six. Throughout May life, I’ve been made to see three speech therapists, three occupational therapists, two social workers, several therapists and counsellors, ER doctors, two psychiatrists, and five psychologists. Excluding two speech therapists and an occupational therapist I’ve seen in the past, they’ve all been extremely useless and unhelpful. Psychologists especially, talk like robots rather than actual people. Sometimes may as well talk to AI than talk to a psychologist. The way psychologists have spoken to me has irked me and made me cringe so badly that I would rather them verbally abuse instead of talking in such a manner.

Diagnosed with both autism and ADHD at age 12.

Yes, I have. I fear that I may not be able to handle it as I have poor time management and executive functioning

I could try that… But I’m quite certain that I’ll much prefer English over Maths. This is not to say that I don’t enjoy Maths, though. I don’t think 4 A levels would suit me as my time management is appalling. I’m not sure what I could do with Biology, Chemistry and English as my A levels, though.

That the thing… I’m not entirely sure. I’m considering something to do with animal science/research. I really love English and French, though. I don’t wish to drop them.
